The Nanny Diaries: A Novel | Emma McLaughlin, Nicola Kraus

When I first read this, I gave it 5 stars. Age & wisdom have bumped it down to 3; it‘s not nearly as funny as I remember. Maybe it‘s because I‘ve seen the movie too many times, where the mom is redeemed just a little, I felt ZERO sympathy for the Mrs. X in the book. My heart breaks for that little boy (& the dog). I hope he gets a happy ending in the sequel
And this line hit like a punch in the gut. I have felt exactly that way in my own career.

I had high hopes for this one , it was interesting and had creepy vibes , I like her writing I am just not a fan of the drawn out stories with unsatisfying endings

DieAReader I hope your #Next read is more satisfying🤓📚 4mo
bumpinthenight For me, her concepts have a lot of potential but like you said, it doesn‘t really come together or hit the mark like I want it to a lot of the time. 4mo
Areader2 @bumpinthenight I agree ,same with the last book I read Riley Sagers Middle of the Night, and God of the Woods both had so much potential so much time setting up these great complex storylines but then the ending is simpler and unfulfilling, I don‘t regret reading them so I guess that‘s important ha 4mo

Pickpick

Cade is looking for a nanny for his son, Luke. Willa arrives in town and the rules are simple - look after Luke. The issue is they can‘t keep their eyes off each other. One night in the hot tub changes how they see each other. Willas contract is for two months but will it be changed to forever.
Cade sounded so grumpy and scowling but was a doting dad. Willa is loud, witty and carefree.
A slow burn read with a great set of characters.

Enjoyable easy escapist romance ❤️‍🔥 no 2 In the series and not as good as the first , mostly listened on audio which had dual narrators male and female which I enjoy rather than one actor putting on fake voices which can ruin a good book .

This book surprised me. It was so good! The true story of Charlotte Bill, who was the nanny of two future kings. David, who abdicated for dreadful Wallace Simpson, and Bertie, who was his successor. More importantly, she was the nanny of their little known baby brother Johnny. The one she cherished most.
