My new listen—I love memoirs like this! #audiobook #medicalmemoir #onedoctor
#RedRoseSeptember One from my virtual TBR ~ a once decorated athlete turns his drive & dedication to medicine when his mom dies from cancer. However tables are turned when it‘s discovered that the Dr now is in need of a #remedy to treat his rare disease. Memoir is compared to Atul Gawande and Paul Kalanithi.
This is unquestionably my favorite book of the year so far. I have so many feelings! It is so poignant, so true to the experience of chronic illness, so heartbreaking that I cried. And then I laughed with her. Because at times, I understood exactly how she felt even though, thank God, I've never experienced anything like what she is going through. Bonus: she loves books! Full review to come on my blog.

Wow, I just started listening to this and have been blown away by the writing and the narration! As a person with chronic illness, though thankfully not anything as extreme as the author's condition, I recognize a lot of her statements as true and beautifully phrased. I'm experiencing a lot of those "Yes, that's it exactly!" moments. So far I have been powerfully moved by this memoir.

I regularly read Andy Borowitz's political columns and Facebook posts. They're funny and quite smart. This short book has no politics in its story, in fact it's a personal story about Andy's health. I finished it in under an hour one night. It's funny, but also a chilling reminder that we need to remember to take care of ourselves. Worth a read if you like his writing style and don't mind some medical details. #medicalmemoir
