Jane Austen acolytes & Bridgerton besties, I must insist you add this darling graphic novel to your dance card. Set in a diverse, inclusive alt-Regency-era, a marriage of convenience between a reputation-ruined lady and a financially-ruined gentleman settles into surprising contentment, but will it survive the chance for more? Sexy and satisfying, moving and romantic, this pitch-perfect read is a quick one, but you‘ll savor it like a spiced tea.

I seem to be, oh, two months behind on reviews. We'll see how many of them I get posted haha I really liked the concept of this one - Emmeline & William got married several years ago to fulfill the requirements of E's capricious uncle so that E can continue to live in her childhood home. But things are about to come apart at the seams - a secondary requirement was that they produce an heir, which never happened... but E's uncle thinks it has ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont\'d) because she\'s been lying to him via letter all this time! Now he\'s coming to visit, so E has to confess to William and find two suitable children to convince her uncle that her imaginary family is real.

This is a book I think I\'ll enjoy more the second time around. It\'s not nearly as much about the romance between E & W as I was expecting - instead, it\'s more about what makes a family and them coming together that way. It was a nice ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont\'d) read, just not exactly what I was expecting.

It‘s not as good as the first one, but I enjoyed it. I found Jonathan frustrating, but I know if characters just communicated there wouldn‘t be a story. Still, cut story, and some great 🌶️🌶️🌶️. It‘s nice to see the woman take control in these period romances!

I love how this author writes characters. This was about as much as I get into football these days. 😂

There was a whole thing on socials last week where someone called the author a pedo bc the MCs name is the same as a middle name of a 12yo Swedish prince. MC of this book is in his 20s &there‘s a disclaimer about this being fictional
“reader” doubled down, claimed this was an author behaving badly even though you cant just call someone a pedo
But as the MC sped away in a speedboat from the paparazzi I realized this book was aggressively not for me

I've never read manga before, but this volume was really sweet. It's a story about an aro-ace woman and a gay man who marry and the subsequent platonic relationship that blossoms in wake of the ceremony. I read all the panels in the wrong order at first (reading manga is a learning curve!). I'm definitely interested in reading vol. 2 and vol. 3. The characters were really lovely. Will it be a platonic happily ever after? Consider me invested.

TieDyeDude I really enjoyed Vol. 1 & 2. Lots of backstory, I'm hoping Vol 3 looks more at their current lives (and that our library system gets Vol 3 :) ) 4mo
TheIntrovertedDodoBird @TieDyeDude I would love more exploration of their current lives, too. The backstory in vol. 1 was useful for character insight, but I really hope vol. 3 delivers a storyline in the present. I found my copy on Vinted, but I can't get my hands on the next two yet. Fingers crossed your library gets vol. 3 soon :). 4mo
