The beginning of this #sciencefantasy Snow Queen #retelling is all sharp edges—the words, the emotions, the blades. I love the way this author uses language, the flair with which she chooses words and constructs her sentences, and her raw, nonjudgmental approach to the characters. Those aren't necessarily good people, but man, are they fun to watch.

We meet the cast of The Locked Tomb once more—all of them messy and confusing as hell, yet strangely lovable. This time we‘re seeing the events through the eyes of Nona, a born-yesterday woman-child, who understands what‘s going on even less than we do, and it‘s funny, and sad, and terrible, and glorious.

Man, do I love this series.

It didn‘t pull me in immediately, but then the eerie mood caught up with me. Here, instead of nice and pretty, the fae are incomprehensible monsters you need to protect yourself from, and I can never have enough of those.

A cross of Edgar Alan Poe and a fairytale, with a dash of romance on the side—it's definitely a mood read fit for October.

What is with fantasy romance authors and adding an LGBTQ+ entry as the 3rd book in their loosely-connected and up to that point straight-as-an-arrow trilogies? I know just two cases (the other being Paladin's Hope by T. Kingfisher) aren't a pattern, but still. Is this a trend?

(Both trilogies are good, start to finish.)

Ok, so this wasn‘t the best book in the world... some bits were kinda annoying, there were parts way underdeveloped (and vice versa), and a coupla scenes were pretty triggering for me. BUT the premise was fun, the narration was good, the story was easy, and ABOVE ALL, there were lgbtq themes! I‘m a sucker for a wlw novel, so I did enjoy this book!

June 6: Today's book is another fantasy title because that genre makes up the majority of my reads. It follows a trio of characters from very different walks of life as they work to retrieve a stolen magic artifact. This book features a male relationship. #lgbt #lgbtq #lgbtqbook #pridemonth2020 #fantasy #lgbtqfantasy

June 4: Today's #LGBTQbook is a longtime favorite of mine. I've read the series twice and love it as much now as my first read. It's a fantasy that features a male couple, some frightening and beautiful magic, and vivid characters. I've enjoyed Lynn's other work as well, and highly recommend it. #lgbt #lgbtq #fantasy #lgbtqfantasy #pridemonth2020

June 3: Huntress is an excellent YA fantasy read. I read it several years ago and loved it. 17-year-old Kaede and Taisin are on a mission to restore balance to their world, but is there time for a little romance along the way? #yalit #lgbtqbook #lgbt #fantasy #lgbtqfantasy

Geenee @GentlemanHooligan I wouldn‘t eat 🤬 if you put syrup on it and told me it was a pancake 🥞. Also, if we confess our sins He is just and righteous to forgive us our sins. In case you were interested in heaven. 5y
Kenyazero I went ahead and blocked the homophobe that was harassing me. It was a great example for why Pride Month is important, so thanks for that? 5y

This was a great second book in this fantastic trilogy. Flewelling does an excellent job of exploring gender identity, as well as spinning out a highly compelling story. It took me a while to read because it can get heavy at times, and I didn't want it to end! #fantasy #lgbtq #lgbt #lgbtfantasy #lgbtliterature #magic #necromancy #ghost #lgbtqfantasy #lgbtqliterature #lgbtqcharacter #queerbook #queerfantasy
