Pickpick

I saved this to read in June #pridemonth and #indigenoushistorymonth it‘s a raw, beautiful story of coming of age and coming out on the Rez and in the big city. Joshua Whitehead is a WONDERFUL writer. I look forward to reading more from him

ShelleyBooksie Ohh! This ones been on my tbr since Canada reads. I need to check it out! 3y
mcctrish @ShelleyBooksie I thought I would fly through this, which is why I left it to the end of the month and then I didn‘t finish it until today. It‘s heavy reading sometimes, it‘s written beautifully but it‘s not always nice 3y

Pickpick

Half as Much by Katherena Vermette was our last #litereads pick for #indigenoushistorymonth and chosen with #canadaday in mind as well. This story is about an elderly Metis man as he learns of the Supreme Court ruling recognizing the Metis as Indians under the constitution. I'm a big dan of the author, and this story was no exception. My full review is available at the link below. Let us know what you thought of this one.

The Trip by Mari Kurisato was this week's #litereads pick, and it both enthralled me for its science fiction worldbuilding and ripped my heart out for its emotional storytelling, so I have to say I personally liked it. You can read my full review below. I hope you'll let us know in the comments what you thought of this story chosen with #indigenoushistorymonth and #pridemonth in mind.

Black, Their Regalia by Darcie Little Badger, our latest #litereads selection, is a dark fantasy story in a contemporary setting with a plague sweeping the land and a band kept in quarantine. I definitely loved this one, but I want to know what the rest of you think. Let me know in the comments. You can read my full review for this #indigenoushistorymonth pick in the link below.

Today is #nationalindigenouspeopleday and June is #indigenoushistorymonth so it is a good time to pick up books by indigenous people. Here are a few of my owned books and my library check outs.
