pickI loved this book, but it felt very much like a setup for a series, not a complete story. It has its own unique mythology, and the nineteenth century setting is rich in detail. Madeleine Roux is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. The perfect combination of creepy, mysterious, and adventure.
Louisa was a fantastic main character, skeptical but curious. The rest of the characters worked so well together to make the book creepy and to keep you guessing.
The story itself was incredibly unique and I can't wait to read the next book!
