Patricia Highsmith had a life as darkly compelling as that of her favorite "hero-criminal," Tom Ripley.

After seeing the play Switzerland by an Aussie playwright I was interested in knowing more about Patricia Highsmith. This lead me to watching the DVD and finding the book. Loving the book and learning lots. The author also writes as Vin Packer, Ann Aldrich , and M E Kerr. This book shows just how far we have come with gay rights. Good to look back and be thankful for those that went before us. @MrsMalaprop

Centique This sounds amazing! I loved M E Kerr novels in the 80s and didn't realise she wrote under other names - and I've been meaning to read Highsmith too. Thanks for the recc! 7y

A Game for the Living | Patricia Highsmith

Don't usually bail if I can help it, but just cannot get into this one at all. Sad, because I usually race through Highsmith.

Pickpick

I love Highsmith's plots and rounded, visceral characters but her spare and scarce style means it takes me an amazingly long time to get through her fairly slim novels. I was so happy when Virago released this edition as I so wanted to read the book but I'm a little averse to movie tie-in editions
