Browsing through books associated with this one, I learned a new word: ‘incunabula‘. I looked at a book list someone had made, ‘Books about incunabula and post-incunabula‘ and saw wonderful names I knew from the Renaissance. Now, I‘m looking back on a special memory from when my husband and I went to the Philadelphia library, upstairs, in the antique book room. I stood inches away from these ‘incunabula‘! *GETS CHILLS*🤓📚😍🤣

rebcamuse Music historian here— we ❤️ incunabula! 3w
Thatbooknerd @rebcamuse oooooh if that‘s your specialty, I would love to know your thoughts on the demon butt cheek sheet music featured in Hieronymus Bosch‘s ‘Garden of Earthly Delights‘! 3w
rebcamuse @Thatbooknerd beyond what‘s already out there, I have no additional musicological insights, I‘m afraid! That is one of my favorite instances of music in a painting, however 2w

Five People You Meet in Heaven, by Mitch Albom (2003)
⭐️⭐️

Premise: A crusty amusement park worker has five transforming encounters when he enters the afterlife.

Review: Stories about the afterlife are generally either cynical or sentimental, so I was expecting a certain amount of cringe here. But wow. ⬇️

Mattsbookaday this is without question the most, un-self-aware, saccharine slop I‘ve ever read. It does have some nice content on grace and forgiveness, but that‘s about the best I can say about it. I remember when this was everywhere; two decades later, I have to ask, WHY?!

Bookish Pair: If you need a healthy dose of afterlife cynicism after this, Here Goes Nothing, by Steve Toltz (2022)

thegirlwiththelibrarybag He does basically just rewrite the same book over and over 3w
Mattsbookaday @thegirlwiththelibrarybag I‘ll never know because I‘ll never go near another one again! 😂 3w

Not new, but new to me.
“With all of my heart, I believe it is true that there is a heaven for animals too.”
“You‘ll grow older, I will, too. But when you meet your friends again, they‘ll see you as they saw you then.
And you‘ll find they always knew how much they were loved…and how much they loved you.”
(I really hope so.)

A dedicated server is often considered the backbone of a reliable online presence for businesses that rely heavily on digital platforms. Unlike shared hosting, where multiple users compete for the same resources, a dedicated setup provides a business with exclusive access to server capabilities.

A friend recommended this after we had some deaths in my family. I enjoyed the perspective of the afterlife from a near-death experience of a neurosurgeon including his own doubts and scientific frame of reference.
