Another charming read! I enjoyed getting to know more of the world of Ingleside and Anne's presence was still felt throughout. What surprised me was how late in time this was set - I always imagined the Anne of Green Gables series to be set in the 1800s, but there were a lot of references to historical events from the early 1900s. It makes sense, but still surprised me! Just one book left and I'm done this series. (Pictured with my next read)

This didn't disappoint! Turns out it's still a favourite for me and I had forgotten some parts of it, so the re-read was good. This will be staying on my shelf.

Next up: this was a favourite of mine for a long time. I haven't touched it in ages and it's possible I've outgrown it now, but that's the fun of my challenge to clean up my bookshelf - out with the old, in with the new, and able to share the love with others through lending and little free libraries (or donations). #BookSevenOf2025

LapReader Love the movie but not the book. That rarely happens. 3w
emilycoc @LapReader yeah, that rarely happens to me too! I've actually not seen this movie 3w

James: A Novel | Percival Everett

Great read! I got into this quite quickly and was reading several chapters at a time. EDITED TO ADD: what I enjoyed about this book was the retelling of a classic (The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn) from a different perspective. I confess I've never read the original but my mom used to teach it to her classes, so I heard a lot about the original book. "James" makes me eager to give that one a try!

Checking in to report on my current read and my upcoming reading plans. I'm really enjoying James so far (about halfway through). I decided to reinstate an old project of mine that has been abandoned for a while - Operation Tidy-Up-My-Bookcase. My plan is going to be to try and weed out some books and gift them to little free libraries. Pictured here is my #tbr pile - some new but mostly old books to revisit as part of the operation!

Had to stay up late to finish this one! I did try to sleep earlier but my mind was racing and I had to know what happened. As always, a very fast-paced and good read. I think I finally own the entire series now too! #BookFiveOf2025 edit: still missing one from the series, so haven't quite achieved that yet.

Before I started this one, I realized it was a reread and that I had read it before and posted about it on Litsy. (I can't recall the year offhand but I think it was before I bought my house). Initially, I could not understand why I gave this the review I had, but as I worked my way through this novella, it became more clear. Still a good read and glad I found this on my shelf to revisit. Finally finished this after many starts and stops over the last couple of years. It took me a while to get into the story and I didn't really appreciate the book until the last few chapters when it all came together. I can see why it's a classic read, but it didn't quite do it for me (which explains why I took so long to make it through). #bookfiveof2024

Picked this up in advance of a 10-hour flight. It was a fantastic light read, while still telling a very engrossing story, and was well written. The ending felt a little bit like an after school special (not a spoiler; just my opinion), but that didn't ruin the experience for me at all. #booktenof2023
