A twist on the classic coming of age story - after returning to her mother's hometown with her father - the novel, jumping forth between past and present, reveals her father's secrets. Loo and Hawley are powerful characters and I was immediately drawn in. Good book club pick and would make a great movie or mini-series. I felt so tense the whole time I was reading this book. I wanted to shout at each character's move, "no! Stop!"
