So characters just got to the "master bedroom" and the one asks, so am I sleeping in the "slave quarters"? They both pause and finally main character asks if that's where that term comes from.
Fun fact: this is why on listings in Ontario, Canada (not sure if all Canada) now use "primary" instead of the word "master".

Edgar Allan Poe originally wanted to use a parrot in his famous poem to say nevermore but he thought it didn't evoke the right tone so he switched to a raven. #FunFactFriday #FANATICALBIRDJULY #BookNerd 📚💙

ScrappyMags I'm glad because a parrot seems so comical...(squawk ) nevermore... just not the same! 🐦 7y
Lcsmcat Ravens are much creepier than parrots! 7y

#FunFactFriday I was a preemie; I was born at 27.5 weeks, back when it was unusual for babies that early to survive without serious physical and developmental issues (nearly 40 years ago). My cousin has a 9 year old who was born at 24 weeks, and thinking about the things that can be done for babies now versus when I was born is astounding.

Reviewsbylola That is amazing! My best friend had a child born at 27 weeks too. He is four now. It was very scary to watch. I can't even imagine 40 years ago! 8y
[DELETED] 1409720085 Wow, you were a miracle baby. 8y
Megabooks My grandfather was born in 1918. He was 9 weeks early. Not as much as you, but it was before antibiotics or basically any preemie medicine. He lived to be 84. 😃 8y
DebReads4fun My 22 year old son was born at 24 weeks. He is a miracle and a blessing. 8y
lilredhen My husband was born a little over two months preemie. For the first few years they didn't expect hime to make it (obv he did lol) He has a list of health issues that are laid at his prematurity as the cause. It's incredible the difference now-I know several 30-32 weekers who are doing very very well thanks to modern medicine and research. 8y

#FunFactFriday - from 2005-2009, I was a full time camp counselor/experiential education instructor! I worked at a camp in Ohio and one in New York. It was both the hardest and best job I've had - one of those times I wish I had appreciated it more. It continues to shape me, influencing my ethics and my art every day. (I wrote/directed one film about summer camp, and two of my writing projects are also about camp.)

OSChamberlain That's amazing! I'd love to write a play or film but I have no idea about the screenwriting process. I always write prose. 8y
bookishkai @brendanmleonard camp counselors unite! I was a CIT and a counselor for 8 years between two different camps, and it's an experience like no other. It's influenced my creative pursuits and my music and politics, and I'm so lucky to have had those experiences. 8y

#funfactfriday is that I adore and admire Audrey Hepburn. She was more than just a pretty face in Hollywood. She epitomizes what "classy" is, and she gave up a life in the limelight to spend her life as a true humanitarian.

BekahB Love her! I was obsessed with her movies as a kid and I still play them when I want a relaxing evening at home. I have The Audrey Hepburn Treasures book which has reprints of letters and photographs tucked into pockets and envelopes. 8y

For #FunFactFriday, I'm a few hours early!! Something that most of you Litsy friends probably don't know about me is that I am a writer. I am working on three projects at the moment and these little guys have all my notes. #1 is for a novel that is currently being rewritten after an intense round of editing, #2 is my first foray into Historical Fiction and, #3 is an idea that lives (right now) only in my head and this tiny pink notebook!

OSChamberlain Good luck in all your writing endeavors! I'm currently working on some short stories myself. 8y
brendanmleonard Awesome idea to have multiple notebooks - I've been thinking about doing the same thing! 8y
MeganMarieWrites @brendanmleonard it's such a big help! Especially with keeping timelines straight!! A lot of times I'll also wrote mini character bios, whether I use the info or not I have it! 8y

Can't wait to see Suicide Squad tonight! Fun fact about myself... I'm a figure skater/ dancer... Not just a pretty book face

BookishFeminist ❤️ I used to figure skate! I miss it. ⛸ 8y
OSChamberlain I used to play ice hockey!! I love ice skating :) 8y
Library-Belle @BookishFeminist I've skated competitively since I was three and I miss it so much but it took such a beating on my body that I basically reinjure myself every time I step on the ice because I don't know the meaning of taking it slow. The dance studio is now my go-to as I'm less likely to break something 8y
BookishFeminist @Library-Belle I know the feeling, both with it beating you up & not taking it slowly. Jumping wrecked my knees! I don't go often either but don't dance bc no one would want to see that- I was in skating way more for the athleticism than the artistry, which is probably the nice way to put it 🙊 8y
