I love reading poetry but stumble at the theory, so I'm going to try and work on this next year.

Dive into the captivating 'Foster' by Claire Keegan, narrated from the perspective of a child. Check out Meredith‘s Manuscript Monday recommendation for this insightful book.

#ReadingBracket2023
I loved doing the reading bracket last year. I am not sure who created it, but I am going to swipe it for 2023.
The idea is to pick your favorite book each month (or post the only book you read that month, like I did a couple times this year) & then narrow it down to your favorite book at the end of the year.
I finished this a couple days ago and felt it was very powerful. A raw look at 2 sisters in the foster care system, the book is still geared toward a middle grade audience. The narrator is 10, though her life experiences have caused her to grow up faster than most her age.
A difficult subject but done in such a tender and loving way… a story of two sisters and their path from abuse to healing… ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Kimberly Brubaker Bradley has a knack for bringing children‘s voices to life and make you feel like characters are real people. This is such an important book on a very important topic.

#MiddleGradeMay
Absolutisme riveting middle grade novel about the aftermath of abuse and the path to healing.
The kids are back today so they got to open their #blitsy packages. Corrine loved all her goodies. She‘s excited the most for the tagged book (another one I may have to swipe.) We‘ve been doing a lot of puzzles recently & this one looks fun. She‘s going to have to hide the bunny because the puppy thought it was for him - she snatched it back from him pretty quick. Thanks @Chelleo for hosting - the kids had a lot of fun (and so did I!)
