An excellent guide to the curious, wonderful, confusing, exciting, anxiety inducing world of being an empath. This book helped explain so much, helps you to assess your level of empath tendencies, & gives good basic guidelines and tools on how to deal with that. There is no one size fits all book. This book may be the perfect fit for you, or it may just have a few good useful tools.

Scattered through out this book are some interesting or helpful points. But most of the book is about vibes and past life stuff which is not how I see the world. If you do, this book is perfect for you. I think Emotional Vampires: Dealing with People Who Drain You Dry by Albert Bernstein was much better and recommend that book.

It's not the author's fault I am a born skeptic. I buy that I am extra sensitive and I pick up others' emotions around me, but I'm not sure how I feel about the explanation as to why. It made me feel less alone, but when we get into magic gemstones and communicating with the dead, you lose my atheist butt. I need a bit more practical solutions for coping with extra sensitivity. I will have to meditate on this awhile.

Wow. This book was bad. I mean REALLY bad. I ended up finishing it because I was actually enjoying the laughs the author was giving me while doling out advice on energy vampires. Don't waste your precious money or time on this one. You will thank me later! 😉

MelAnn I don't like any of her books. She's full of crap! 3y
SRWCF @MelAnn LOL! Too funny! This author was actually recommended to me by a counselor that I only saw one time. I then made the mistake of going out right away and buying a couple of her books. This is actually the first one I've read, so I'm really afraid of what the other book is going to be like! 3y
SRWCF @brittanybooks I see you stacked this book. Do you want it? I would be happy to send it to you! I gave it a bad review, but there were a few good nuggets inside. 😁 3y

Smartypants So basically she wrote an autobiography? Sounds like she was an energy vampire. Lol 3y
SRWCF @Smartypants Nailed it! All of her "references" were always "a woman I know" and never anything really solid. Plus, she basically spent most of the book trying to convince the reader that their spouse or significant other was an energy vampire and needed to be removed from your life. Yeah, okaaaaay. 3y
brittanybooks @SRWCF lol sometimes with a bad review it makes me want to hate-read it. And I know an energy vampire at work I could use help with. 3y
SRWCF @brittanybooks I totally get it! It would be good for use with a co-worker. Just say the word and I'll happily drop it in the mail to you. 😊 3y
brittanybooks Thank you so much for the offer but I think it‘s at my library and I‘m due for a visit :) 3y
SRWCF @brittanybooks oh, that makes sense! Well, then, I'll be donating it to one of my neighborhood Little Free Libraries. 😊 3y
brittanybooks Great idea- those LFLs are so cute!! 3y
SRWCF @brittanybooks they sure are! My neighborhood has at least 2 that I know of. 3y
Suet624 Northrup used to be (years and years ago) somewhat helpful. She has gone off the deep end, especially around COVID, and I wouldn't trust anything she writes anymore. Kind of a bummer. 3y
SRWCF @Suet624 Lord have mercy - I don't even WANT to know how she feels about COVID! I guess I got a little bit of an idea when, at the end of this book, for no reason at all she inserted her vaccine views in a short paragraph that can be summed up with “vaccines are toxic and bad, so don't get them.“ Insert HUGE eye roll.

The other book I have by her is the Wisdom of Menopause. I'm hoping it's not full of crap, too! 😒
3y
Suet624 I can‘t remember if I read that one. Check the date she wrote it. If it‘s before 2000 she still had her wits about her. 3y
SRWCF @Suet624 The one I have is a revised edition from January 2012. It's doomed! 😂 I just read this one star review on Amazon: “This book is the author's personal diary. I want facts, not all her personal baggage.“ LOLOL! Oh, boy! 3y
Suet624 Oh brother. 3y
WaterVixxen I don‘t think this is a book for everyone. The writing isn‘t the best, but there are some gems here and there from a spiritual perspective - as long as that‘s the mindset you enter this with. It‘s really more designed for people in that wavelength rather than as self-help. 2y
SRWCF @WaterVixxen I think you are correct! I wish I would have known that going in. 2y
WaterVixxen @SRWCF I have recommended it to folk who are along that spectrum and they got a lot of benefit. Some covers and the blurbs really sell you sometimes 2y
SRWCF @WaterVixxen This one was recommended to me by a counselor. 2y
WaterVixxen @SRWCF I see. There are some really helpful things in there though. Especially describing the narcissist/empath relationship. In hindsight I wish I had some of those awareness when I was younger. 2y

Have you ever read a self-help book that's so bad you continue on with it solely with the intent of finding more things to hate about it? Well, folks, this is one of those types of books for me! I rarely bail on a book, so I'll be finishing this one...only a few more pages to go. 😏

tracey38 Oh no! 3y
SRWCF @tracey38 yeah, the author writes some of the most ridiculous things! 3y
Simona I‘m avoiding self-help books in BIG circles … 3y
SRWCF @Simona Smart move! This particular book wasn't recommended to me, but the author was. I have a couple of her other 📚s that I hope are much better than this one! 3y

Great book for sensitive, intuitive people. There are a lot of strategies I know I will be using. It's worth owning, and I'm sorry I have to return it to the library.

MrBook Awesome! Need to add this. 5y

I think I need this book also. The description defines much better what an empath is than I did in my 2 previous posts, lol

saresmoore Why, yes, this book sounds essential. 7y
