The Glass Ocean: A Novel | Beatriz Williams, Karen White, Lauren Willig

LOVED this book! It combined so many of my favorite things and kept me guessing. I was initially unsure about 2 of the 3 POVs being in the same time (rather than 3 separate time periods), but I ended up loving that too. Everyone should look forward to its release in October!

This was so good. Intense and gripping! When I wasn't listening to it, I wanted to be. It's got some really tough moments, but Eve and Charlie are worth it. I also really enjoyed the experience of a dual time where the two time periods were only 30 years apart, which allowed the two heroines to actually interact with each other in the later time period. I don't think I've read a #dualtime set up that way before! #audiobook

I really enjoyed this well-written dual-time narrative that switches between Viking times and present day! Two strong heroines, religious diversity, and romance. Plus it has the whole modern history scholar thing going for it that I love in conjunction with a historical plot line.

I'll be writing a longer review for my blog and I'll be sure to link to that on Litsy as well!

ReadingEnvy I have an audio review copy of this that I need to get to. As 1/4 Viking they had to say yes! ;) 8y
annahenke @ReadingEnvy Interesting! How did you get involved with doing audio reviews? 8y
ReadingEnvy @annahenke I used to coordinate reviews for a blog/podcast that is exclusively sci-fi/fantasy audiobooks and still have the publisher contacts. 8y
annahenke @ReadingEnvy cool! (edited) 8y

#newreleasetuesday I thoroughly enjoyed this book, out today from @WilliamMorrow ! I was fully engaged with both narratives, one 1920s, one 1990s, and I loved the ending. The stories each had their own flavor and individual aspects that I loved. I felt like the romances could have used a little more building up, but it didn't bother me enough to make this less than a hearty recommendation.

annahenke Thanks @rubyslippersreads @ocdIrene ! I picked up a whole stack of these old French mags when I was in England at an antiques market. I have them done up in a frame in my apartment. 😊 it happened to fit the time period! 8y
