I loved this book! Pival is such a beautiful character, and Franqui does an amazing job giving each character room to tell their own story. This is one of the best books I have read this year.

I just started reading this egalley while getting my hair done. I was laughing so hard, I may have frightened my stylist.

I just finished The Hate U Give, what a stunning debut novel. It may be the best novel I have read this year. READ THIS BOOK.

While in DC, I stopped into Kramerbooks and picked up these two wonderful books.

I wasn't sure if I'd like this book, but I ended up loving it. The author made me feel like I was in that island community along with the characters. I'm going to look for her first book, The Midwife of Hope River.

Today I'm halfway through Amy Poeppel's Small Admissions and Amy Schumer's The Girl With the Lower Back Tattoo. Both are terrific, funny and honest and set in NYC.

My #NationalReadingDay choice. It's quite thought-provoking.

I loved what Sister Esme said to Gin- "She told me that of all the girls who had filtered through her classroom, I was the most unruly, the smartest-mouthed, the least tractable, the most irreligious and argumentative, and she fully expected to hear great things from me. She also said (assuming a terribly serious mien) that she had one single piece of advice for me, which is this: I owed confession only to God."

A friend recommended this one, saying how creepy she found it. I read it in two sittings and it is unsettling.

I am laughing out loud at so many of these hilarious stories. I see why so many people put it on their Best of 2016 Lists. Bravo Helen Ellis!

The Hopefuls is the perfect book to read between the conventions. It's about a young couple, the husband works for the Obama administration and wants to run for office himself. His wife is trying to be supportive, and they become entwined with another political couple. It's as much about marriage as it is about politics, and Close astutely nails the details of marriage.

I read this page-turner in two sittings, racing through it to see why the plane crashed. I read it because I loved the TV show Fargo (congrats on the Emmy nods!) and a friend loved Noah Hawley's book The Good Father.

This book just broke my heart. The contrast between the people who are good and caring and the pure evil in the world is staggering. A good friend told me to read this and I'm glad I listened to her.

I used my 20% off coupon at Barnes and Noble to buy Tig Notaro's book. She is fearless and funny.

We're having a Hamilton moment. My husband took me to see it, which was the most amazing stage show I've ever seen (and I've seen a lot!). I listen to the cast recording on my walks (and try not to sing out loud) and now I'm reading Hamilton-the Revolution, which contains the book and lots more.

This is THE book of the summer. I read it in 2 1/2 hours on the beach. The story of the assistant to a media mogul who accidentally hits on a scheme to pay off her student debt and then others want in on the plan. It's funny and such a quick, great read.

I just finished this one this morning on the treadmill. When a Native American man accidentally kills his best friend's young son, he and wife reluctantly give their own young son to the parents of the dead boy.
This book is heartbreaking but ultimately uplifting, with wonderful characters.
