BarkingMadRead
A Passage to India | E. M. Forster

willaful This was a complicated chapter. Adela is so confused and suggestible -- perhaps normal after being traumatized like this. There's nothing that explains why she ever thought it was Aziz to begin with. She's definitely a very unreliable witness. That's probably not going to help poor Aziz though. :-( 1y
Bklover Loved todays hashtags! You‘re right- Mrs. Moore is definitely crabby. @willaful Yes- no one has said “what makes you think it was Aziz in the first place?”!! 1y

Bookwormjillk Did she ever accuse Aziz or did Ronny just assume? What‘s up with Mrs. Moore? Is she still mad about the cave?? 1y
BarkingMadRead @willaful so true! And they never really say why she thought it was him or who she told! I hope they do! @Bookwormjillk as far as I know, we don‘t know who she told or what she said! I hope that info comes out! 1y
jenniferw88 I think we're meant to assume that she told Miss Derek at the car, and Miss Derek drives her straight to the station. 1y
Morr_Books @jenniferw88 I agree. I also got the impression from this chapter that Adela thought it was Dr Aziz because she assumed he followed her into the cave, so it had to be him. 1y
jenniferw88 @Bookwormjillk Mrs Moore has lost her faith in religion and God and this is draining her emotions. 1y
dabbe @Bookwormjillk Ever since Mrs. Moore experienced the echo, she seems to have adopted an almost existential “why care?“ kind of way of living. 1y
Morr_Books At this point, I feel that Mrs. Moore is partly crabby, because she thinks all this is ridiculous. I'm frustrated because it seems she believes in Dr Aziz's innocence but won't speak won't go public....maybe cuz everyone views her as a crabby old woman...? 1y
jenniferw88 @dabbe exactly! 1y
AnnR This was a difficult chapter to read. Not in the literary sense but on an emotional level. 1y
Bklover @dabbe Yes- well said! 1y
