It‘s not my habit to buy new books because I get so many from the library and Lord only knows when I‘ll actually read these, but I‘m so happy to have them. Europa Editions rarely steers me wrong and I‘ve really liked Chidgey‘s work before so I‘m looking forward to it. And of course The God of the Woods has been getting lots of love lately. 💕💕💕
I found this feather during my walk yesterday. #darkblue #coverlove
The man that is Johnny Kavanagh. He is the standard. I am a massive fan of all the boys in this book, they‘re my favourites. I was not at all ready for the sadness that this book would bring, I was not ready for the heart wrenching twists. I need to get my hands on the next book, I‘m so ready for my heart to break with Joeys pov.
Hey, look what eBook is on sale for only $1.99? That's less than I pay for my morning maple cream cheese danish after walking my beloved dog, Jesse!
I panned the first book, and honestly this one isn't any better, but I picked it up because the first book just ends mid scene, so I guess the author managed to hook me? Most of this was just boring, but some very upsetting things happen in the 2nd half of the book and thankfully I could skim the rest.

Women & Children is an inter-generational story of inherited trauma and violence, set in working-class suburbia circa 1965. It's a quiet novel about big problems: rage, justice, powerlessness, and complicity. Full review: https://keepingupwiththepenguins.com/women-children-tony-birch/
A Dutch prize winning book. The title means “Be Invisible” and it is a grand epic novel about a family's desperate struggle against a tyrannical father as well as the beautiful coming of age of a sensitive boy growing up in an unsafe world, based on Murat Isik's own childhood. Last but not least the book is set in my city, which adds always a bit!
