3.5 Stars • "Reasons to Stay Alive" by Matt Haig is well-written and is both a memoir and self-help book detailing Haig's experience with depression and anxiety. It offers advice on managing mental health, emphasizing recovery and small victories. It‘s relatable and focuses on helping reduce the stigma around mental health.

After seeing a TED Talk, I had the local library order this book for me. That was 5 years ago. I have my own copy now. It's been a huge help in finding my way back on my own. It was never me. It was how I dealt with how I allowed people to treat me. And I can change that. I have. It's an ongoing struggle against my natural inclination to trust, believe, and look for affirmation. I wish my wife had read it before she surrendered her life to Prozac.

I‘m very behind on reviews! Read this in early December. It‘s funny to see where Wait‘s backlist has been coming from. One book of hers had to come to my small town in Vermont from a library in Virginia. This book has come from Kentucky. Emma‘s eldest brother has died and her other brother immediately leaves home. Emma is left behind as part of a devastated family. As usual, Wait does a great job describing this family‘s story.

4.5⭐️ My heart broke at the end of this book, but despite that, I really enjoyed it. Ms. Trump pulls no punches about her life within the Trump family and really digs into what her father‘s family was and is like. I hope at some point she can find people who truly love and appreciate her. #2025 #nonfiction #memior #autobiography #trumpfamily

This is probably going to be my favorite nonfiction book of the year. Extremely relatable for depressives and not in a sugar-coaty way which is super refreshing.

Sometimes joy has to be a choice, and this was one of those weeks! I went to NYC with two friends, and the trip felt like 30% enjoying the city and 70% interpersonal conflict. So for this #5JoysFriday I‘m choosing to focus on the joyful moments!

One of the best books I read about suicide and grief. With a bit of humor and lightness this is the sad story of a family torn apart by the death of the eldest son, Kit. How can a family keep on functioning afterwards, is that even possible? The things being said and left unsaid, everything changed forever…
Rebecca Wait explores it all in this wonderful, heartbreaking novel in a way only she can.
