I was so excited for this because I‘ve given two of her other books 5⭐️, but I didn‘t feel as engaged with her short fiction as I did with her novels. She once again tackles immigration and being caught between borders and cultures. A story that spoke from both the man‘s and woman‘s perspectives in a 90 Day Fiancé-style marriage caught my attention, but others I struggle to remember details of. Low pick but a beautiful cover! ?
Halfway through and I‘m LOVING my time with Lev - I‘m having a different experience than @Megabooks
I‘m finding his trek from #Mexico to #Columbia vivid, colorful and engaging. Lev has a knack for bringing every place he visits to life. #ReadingTheAmericas23 #Hoopla so far #Mexico #Belize #Guatemala #Honduras

Any one know of a good YA or MG book that takes place in Columbia? #foodandlit #Columbia
Only one chapter in, but a promising start to my June title for #foodandlit #columbia. I can‘t wait to see what recipes kittens pick this month. I am as yet uninspired in that regard.
Read for #latinxauthor for #booked2021. This compilation of speeches shows what a champion Marquez was for Latin America and especially for his country #Columbia.
Fearing extradition to the US in 1990, Pablo Escobar, head of the Medellín cartel, had 10 people taken as hostages to use as bargaining chips in his surrender. A fascinating nonfiction from Columbia's (arguably) best-known novelist. While at times the structure was confusing and it would have benefitted from a list of "characters," it's definitely an illuminating read of a scary time in a dangerous place. #readaroundtheworld #Columbia
