1. As a very anxious person, I use several different practices for inner peace. Going for walks, meditating, journaling, and drawing are my go-to methods. I do these things regularly and that helps, but I‘ll do them more when I‘m anxious or feeling down.
2. The tagged book and “Upstream” by Mary Oliver (as well as any of her poetry) are my top reads to help with inner peace.

Fascinating and mind-expanding evaluation of Buddhism from a scientific standpoint. Highly recommended.

Unfortunately I didn't get to finish The Wedding People before it was due back at the library. I think I'll try this one next. It's been on my TBR forever, and I'm trying to get back into meditation and mindfulness. Thich Nhat Hanh should be a good guide.

No one talks Zen better than Alan Watts. I can‘t blame his son for cashing in on his father‘s legacy by publishing old audio lectures in book form. I kept this pocket gem in my work bag for the better part of last year. It kept me grounded and spiritually in a better place than I would have been otherwise.

catiewithac @JamieArc I just ordered it yesterday because I‘m barely coping. Also, I should mail your birthday gift this week! 🥳 2mo
JamieArc @catiewithac I had ordered it for you to send with your birthday package but it *just*came in. That‘s okay though - it‘s one I‘m interested in as well. I‘ve been reading feminist rage books to prepare. I hope you have some good things planned tomorrow to distract you or help you cope. Hugs to you, friend 🤗💙 2mo

Book isn‘t yet in our system: The Rain People by Jin Bo, Yi Yusun (illustrator)

“As a boy sits alone watching spring's first rainfall, he sees that the drops are turning into tiny people, who invite him to join them.”

Lovely book! I‘m not an art expert but I think the art is watercolor. The short of it is the boy joins the Rain People to enter the River of Sorrow and when they do life is restored to the land. This could be from Chinese folklore.

The audiobook narrator tried to imitate Alan Watts‘ voice and speaking style, and just no. There‘s only one authentic Alan Watts. Still a good book with lots about Buddhist history.

TNH explains the power of silence by slowing down the mind so that we can recognize the surrounding beauty. Many people search for happiness; however, they spend their days frantically running from one place to another. Silence is about cultivating quiet in our minds amid chaos. TNH offers techniques to remind us to be present in the moment with equanimity in a noisy environment or mind.

If you‘re struggling with deep emotions which might come from your inner child then I would suggest you this book.
It is based on buddhism and at the end of the book you can find some practices to heal your inner child.
I will definetly use some for myself 💛
