Mehso-so

3.25⭐️

I always appreciate a good #truecrime on something that isn‘t murder. This one touched on book theft which was interesting to learn about. My favorite part was probably talking about initiatives the professional organization took to crack down on theft.

So it‘s been a while since I‘ve been on here but I‘m really hoping to get back to using this app. Here‘s a stack of some of the books I‘m currently reading. I think I‘ll be able to get the nonfiction finished today or tomorrow 🤞

Quote from a one-nan show called "Bibliomania" by Roger Rosenblatt. The quote was in a coffee table book on libraries.

In the spirit of Kramer's "coffee table book about coffee tables," here's a "library book about libraries."

5 stars!! This is my second time reading this…..books are kinda dated but it so accurately describes the slow descent into collecting that can happen. If you like books about books - you‘ll like this. Reminds me of 84,Charring Cross Road.

MaGoose I loved both the tagged book and 84 Charring Cross Road, too. 🤎 7mo

A mini #bookhaul from the remainders/discount bookstore. I was super excited to find these as 3 out of 4 were on my wishlist for years.

Clockwise from top L:
1) Stream System - Collected Short Fiction of Gerald Murnane
2) Territory of Light - Yuko Tsushima (I think the cover is pretty but it doesn't show up well in the pic)
3) Looking for Mr Goodbar - Judith Rossner
4) The Fortnight in September - R.C. Sherriff

Tamra The Sherriff is 💙💙 8mo
batsy @Tamra Was so thrilled to find it having seen lots of Litsy love for it 😊 8mo
Ruthiella I loved A Fortnight in September-such a gentle story. I read Mr Goodbar in the last century. Good but disturbing, as I remember. 8mo

batsy @Ruthiella I've heard that about Mr Goodbar! Apparently it was also made into a movie with Diane Keaton. 8mo
LeahBergen I think you‘ll love A Fortnight. And I read Mr Goodbar back in the last century, too, @Ruthiella 😆 8mo
marleed I loved A Fortnight. In case you aren‘t aware of its origins, I think it enhances the reading experience to know when and how the book was written. 8mo
batsy @LeahBergen Fortnight seems to be quite universally loved 🙂 8mo
batsy @marleed Don't know too much about it, but thanks for the tip. Will look it up before I start reading! 8mo
Cathythoughts Nice haul. I‘m going to look up Territory of Light. ♥️ 8mo
batsy @Cathythoughts Thanks 😘 I've heard lots of good things about Territory, so I'm hoping it is 🤞🏾 8mo

These prism glasses allow me to read in bed without straining my neck. Where have these beauties been all my life? 👀

So, @TheSpineView posted some incredible reading journal pages. I asked her if she wouldn't mind sharing them with me; she graciously said she would. I'm thinking she'll email them to me or mail the sheets--something like that. What does she do instead? She makes me my very own journal. Binds it and all. It arrived today, Lisa, and I am in awe or your creative talents. I adore it, and I can't wait to write in it! Thank you, my friend. 😍💜😘

Thanks for the tag @BarbaraBB this is my #Top23of23 ! I downloaded a new photo app on my phone that somehow doesn't go up to 23 grids (doesn't it understand our Litsy needs?!) so I gave up on the photo collage 😆 And I feel bad for not including the translators above. 2023 was a fantastic reading year 💜 I even had to leave out so many, like the Edith Wharton rereads & some of the Furrowed Middlebrow & Golden Age mystery club titles that I liked.

squirrelbrain Great list! 11mo
