I love both of Jodi Taylor‘s time travel series. I love all the historical details she includes, the laugh out loud moments and the madcap adventures. Her stories can get convoluted but I‘ve learned to just roll with it. I do recommend starting at the beginning of each series rather than hopping into the middle.

I absolutely loved this book. It's a beautiful, Gothic, fairytale inspired story of a man who marries a rich heiress who wants to keep her past a secret. But then, when her Aunt is near death, they have to return to her childhood home, The House of Dreams.

Absolutely brilliant!
This is such an open, honest recount of Maya's younger years.
I laughed with her, I cried for her and I felt angry for her when she was too young to do it herself. And hearing Maya reading it herself! This lady's talent is beyond measure.
Can't remember the last time a book had such an impact on me.

I am not quite sure what I just read but think twisty enough to cover that prompt for #booked2023 well researched with fascinating perspectives on east end life during the 1880s and Jack the Rippers run of terror and a somewhat feminist undertone I was pleased to pull this off the tbr pile. Also doubles up for #bluing for #panetone23

Soubhiville I really enjoyed this one! Have you read this nonfiction that pairs perfectly with it?

I was a bit sceptical about this series. I've read mostly all McDermid's other books but found that I didn't always like her earlier works. So I went in with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised! I quite like the obnoxious Lindsay Gordon. Not in a hurry to read the next, but I will get around to it eventually.

And the cold cases of Karen Pirie.
But I didn't like PI Kate Brannigan that much so that's why I was a bit skeptical about this one. I promised myself to first try Lindsay before I read her new (Allie Burns) books. 2y

Wow! The history of jazz, the theory of Kabbalah, and the nature of art all wrapped up in a fabulous fictional fantasy. I tried to take my time and savor this one, but it trips along like jazz and you just have to be there for the ride.
