#octphotochallenge #betterinthemovie

I think Charlton Heston was a better astronaut in the movie than the character in the book.

LibrarianRyan I had no idea this was a book. Cool 8y
the_hibernator @LibrarianRyan yeah, and it's pretty good, if a bit dated. Check it out if you like unique dystopias. 8y

Laszlo de Almasy (Ralph Fiennes) and Katherine Clifton (Kristin Scott Thomas) are so much better in the movie. Their chemistry was amazing and they made these characters so real to me. The book was kind of a disappointment... #octphotochallenge #betterinthemovie

Books_Wine_Repeat I need to watch this movie. Ralph Fiennes!! 😍😘❤️ 8y
LeahBergen Oh, Fiennes in this movie!! 💗💗 8y

I know this is a tv series, not #betterinthemovie. Anna Paquin made Sookie Stackhouse so much more like able for me. I could not get past the third book because Sookie drove me crazy in the books, but I throughly enjoyed watching True Blood. #likedthecharacterbetter #octphotochallenge

Because Alan Rickman makes everything better, my vote for #betterinthemovie is him as Colonel Brandon in Sense & Sensibility.

Loved this movie so much that I immediately read the book. Not worth it. They modernized the story in the film and made both the story and Bathsheba Everdeen way more relatable to today's audiences. Carey Mulligan rocked it. And Matthias Shoenaerts...swoon. 😍 #betterinthemovie #octphotochallenge

Yamich49 Agreed. The movie was much better! 8y
LeahBergen Swoon, indeed!!! Oh, my. 8y
ReadingEnvy Oh but I adored this novel in high school. Subtle was enough for me back then. (But still loved the movie.) 8y

PNWBookseller85 @ReadingEnvy it maybe shouldn't have, given the time period in which it was written, but this book kind of offended me. Bathsheba is supposed to be an independent, progressive woman, but she throws herself at men and goes weeping about the house in fits of love. I was happy that they toned it down for the movie. And Carey Mulligan brought some much needed self awareness to the character. 8y
ReadingEnvy @BeckyMerilatt that's often my issue with books from this era, all the emotional outbursts and angsty letters, I always feel like "get a grip!" 8y
SaraFair Just recently saw that movie and loved it! I think all the actors chosen were well suited for their roles. 8y
PNWBookseller85 I agree. Tom Sturridge had me like 😂 as Troy. 8y
AvidReader25 I just finished the book and can't wait to watch the movie! 7y

This isn't a #betterinthemovie because it's a tv series. Claire was way better, for me, in the show than the book because she was so whiny in the book. Caitriona Balfe is awesome and Sam Heughan (Jamie 😍) isn't bad either. 💁🏻💕 #octphotochallenge

andreadmw I love both the books and show but sometimes I feel the show highlights the grotesque in the book too often. Jamie and Claire 4ever!! ❤️📚 8y
Bakingbookworm I wasn't sure about Sam at first. He wasn't as tall as Jamie is depicted in the book nor does he have red hair but he grew on me. Both he and Catriona play their parts very well. 💕 8y
Kkhalifeh Agreed!!!!! 8y

readingnatalie Love the books and the show! Oh, and Sam Heughan, 😍. 8y
Inked.and.nerdy Loveeee this show!!! Haven't read the books simply because the sheer size of them is intimidating 8y
Shemac77 Love these books! 8y
Books_Wine_Repeat @Bakingbookworm Agreed! Sam grew on me, now I can't see anyone else playing Jamie. 8y
drokka It's not that Sam isn't as tall as in the books, it's that Caitriona is so much taller than Claire. The height thing on the show is something that throws a lot of people off if they've read the books. I prefer the Claire on the books. I'm still hoping that Caitriona will grow on me. I reckon it has a lot to do with a lack of character and relationship development on the show. Maybe season 3. 8y
Books_Wine_Repeat @Inked.and.nerdy Try the audiobooks. They're well narrated. I haven't listened to all of them but they've been good. 8y
sprainedbrain I love the show so much, but these books. Omg I love them all! 😍 8y

I thought R was a delightful narrator in the book and I thought Nicholas Hoult did a wonderful job bringing his wit to the big screen. It's possible I was rooting for him twice as hard when I wastched the movie, even though I already knew how the story would end. #betterinthemovie #octphotochallenge

LitHousewife This book was way out of my wheelhouse. I enjoyed it, but non-funny zombie books are never going to be my thing. I've never even given the movie a thought. 8y
megt @LitHousewife it's been awhile since I've seen it, but I always thought it was a decent way to spend an hour and a half. 8y

Sense and Sensibility is my least favorite Jane Austen. I don't really like any of the characters. That said, Harriet Walter's Fanny Dashwood was fantastic! (Photo from Google) #betterinthemovie #octphotochallenge

#octphotochallenge I think Oliver Tate is a slightly nicer person in the film. Some of his pointier edges have been smoothed, although he's still wonderfully acerbic and cerebral and flawed. A truly memorable character #betterinthemovie
