This is the first Carl Hiaasen book I‘ve ever read. I‘ve heard he was funny — something I was in the mood for — so I thought I‘d check him out. Indoor #audiowalk because it was 90° outside at 8:00pm.
The Lincoln Rhyme/Amelia Sachs duo is a favorite. Always twists and turns. Always something from left field. Doesn‘t feel gimmicky though.
Lincoln Rhyme is always a treat. Perfect for night shift.

I was initially enjoying this design book that reads like an extended version of Coastal Living magazine. But eventually the gratuitous wealth just got gross. I guess that‘s the risk when the author is related to the British royal family. 🤷🏼♀️ I did, however, like the variety it lends to my reading challenge.

I believe this author had as his mission to write the best researched, most thorough account of the Republic of Pirates, founded by pirate Benjamin Hornigold, in the Caribbean. The escapades of many a pirate (so many I forget who‘s who), and every ship won or lost, are detailed in this book. Which, unfortunately, makes for a boring pirate book. This book is a well-written assembly of facts and for that reason it‘s a pick for me. It‘d be an ⬇️
