Not quite a festive #wreath, but I‘ve loved Asterix since I was a child, so I‘m going with it!

Such a fun read!
Children will enjoy it, but adults too. I love when there are different levels of reading in books. And I love the span of humor: anachronisms, play on words, situational humor...
A low pick for me. Asterix is always fun, but this one isn't among my favourites from the series. It's also a little bit challenging for me when I read it in French, as I'm sure I miss a good number of puns.

(1966) The Romans convince a conquered Gaulish chief to challenge Asterix's chief Abraracourcix for control of the tribe. Which would be no problem usually, but the tribe is fresh out of magic strength potion because the potion-brewer Panoramix lost his memory in an accident. (Obélix dropped a menhir on him, oops.) Hijinks ensue.
(1965) Astérix, Obélix, and Panoramix go to Egypt to help build a temple that will settle a bet between Cleopatra and Caesar. Hijinks ensue, but the usual fun is soured in this one by some racist caricatures that should really stay in the 1960s.
This is my haul from a big charity book sale in my city this weekend. Because of work, I could manage only an hour to browse, and I didn't even get to see half the books. I'm considering going back tomorrow, though I'm trying hard to reduce the number of books in my house!
I'd read this story in English as a child and decided to reread the original French version. Having vacationed in England recently, I enjoyed the friendly and humorous pokes at British culture. I liked especially Goscinny's take on how tea was introduced to the British!
First book finished for #FabulousFebruary @Andrew65
(1961) Third in Goscinny's series featuring Gaulish warriors Astérix and Obélix. In this one, A&O have to rescue the village druid Panoramix ("Getafix" in the English translations) who has been abducted by Visigoths (the Western Goths who live to the east, explains Asterix, to Obélix's perplexment.)
It's fun as always, and I think this is the earliest in the month I've ever completed a #BookSpin -- Yay!
@TheAromaofBooks
My #BookSpin and #DoubleSpin reads for January start the year off right with adventures from two of my favorite series.
I'm imagining an old-fashioned Marvel-Teamup style "Asterix and Obelix Meet the Three Investigators" adventure and thinking for that I'd need All The Popcorn.
Thanks @TheAromaofBooks !
