Bookzombie @wanderinglynn @4thhouseontheleft It was okay. Not my favorite MacAlister book. I haven‘t read a lot of steampunk, but I read some reviews after I read it that said it was light on the steampunk. (edited) 7y

Just like The Lost City of Z, this book reinforced that I will never be a jungle explorer. I enjoyed this but it wasn‘t as enthralling as Z. I realize they might have never found the ruins without the help of technology we have today, but it made their exploration less exciting to me. I couldn‘t help but compare the two books. Mdargusch This book was definitely easier for me to get through than Z, however the mystery of what happened to the explorers in Z still haunts me. 7y
