LauraBrook I haven't read anything of those, but Mary Beard sounds like an intriguing author to me. Is she readable? I don't know a ton about that era, and don't want to feel too lost if I'd try reading one of her books. 7y

Sophoclessweetheart @LauraBrook These are the first two books I've picked up by her but I've seen her documentaries and read her blog which discusses the classics also and I really can't see why her books wouldn't be readable because her blog is and of course, her passionate tour de force personality makes her enjoyable. She mostly writes about ancient Roman civilisation but she has a book or two on Greek too! X 7y
