Originally we were going to read Tower of Dawn first b/c a few sources online mentioned it would be a more emotional way to go into the final book of the series. I‘ve changed my mind and decided we will read in publication order -which means Empire of Storms first. We will start in December, reading 9 chapters a week, first check in December 8. Please let me know if you‘d like to continue on this #ToG journey with us.

“When I first got a glimpse of you,” said Morris with a smile, “I thought I had come on ahead of myself and got here first.”
Today‘s #KindredSpiritsChristmas story is “Ted‘s Double: A Christmas Folly”—like yesterday‘s tale, this one is new to me! You can find it here: https://www.fadedpage.com/books/20161232/html.php. This is the last of the stories that aren‘t in the tagged collection. ⤵️

A really good read. There *was* something about the MC I didn't really like, which somehow made him more "real". I also like that he realizes that a part of him is a lot like his father. The final battle felt a bit anticlimactic, which honestly doesn't surprise me, it usually is LOL. but I liked the relationship dynamics and how it all ended. It feels complete but there is a sequel. I wonder what's next #queer #trans #nonbinary
I soon noticed how lonely Icarus was and felt for him. It was really nice to follow his life and how he finally got friends.
This was a good coming-of-age story with romance, for those who want to read one.
Chapters were super short...
I appreciated this book's message, this book made me ponder some important aspects of life.
I really liked the book, but it was slightly too melodramatic to my liking.

Brownstone, by Samuel Teer (illustr. Mar Julia) (2024)
⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
Premise: A New York teenager meets her father for the first time one summer and learns about her Guatemalan heritage.
Review: This is sweet and effective, if very, very simplistic. It does deal with some hard subject matter — child abandonment, biracial identities, homophobia, and gentrification — but in ways that came off a bit too easy. ⬇️

How did I go from being a “normal” reader who reads one book at a time to a chaos monster reading a physical book, a kindle book, an audio/physical combo, and an audiobook all at the same time? Why? I am not built for this life. 😵💫🤪😂

#LittensLoveSJM #ToG #EoS Ch.1-9: And we‘re right back into the story - I love it. By this book, SJM knows who her audience is, she knows we‘ve been on this journey with her so far, we don‘t need boring long expositions- we‘re ready to get back in with our characters. It starts off interesting and stays that way - so far. ⬇️

I'm not sure if I would have liked this better if I were the target audience (which I am decades from being). The italicized chapters written in first POV by the villain were laughable and ridiculous. But it was a quick read that I may just be way too old for.

“…it‘s the spirit of Christmas that counts. It must be a spirit of goodwill and kindness and joy and love. We must never forget the real meaning of Christmas—never let it be dimmed by any false meanings…”
Today‘s #KindredSpiritsChristmas story is “A Christmas of Long Ago”—this one is new to me! Short and sweet. You can find it here: https://www.fadedpage.com/books/20171105/html.php (we‘re still not yet into the tagged collection). Enjoy!
