I am loving this book - can‘t put it down! It‘s everything I liked about the A Court of Thorns and Roses series, except no Fae. And no romance, which is not my favorite genre. I often skimmed over the sex scenes in ACOTAR because I wanted to get back to what I thought of as the main plot.
I love Naomi Novik‘s writing. It‘s a pleasure to read it in hard copy book form. I appreciate the language most in this format.

Maas is not disappointing with this series. The middle was a little slow in the way of action, but she made up for it by focusing on the characters and developing their relationships, as well as with an intriguing mystery unfolding in the castle. I like the MC and some of the characters around her, and of course there‘s a bit of a love triangle. I‘m rooting for the underdog, of course lol. Can‘t wait to see what else happens…

2.5 stars. I have mixed feeling for this. I liked the 2nd half of the book more than the 1st half. The main character, Gemma, was a spoiled rich girl. She was not a very likable character. Her love interest, Talan, was very suspicious to me. The insta love was a little too convenient. There is an interesting magic system and world building. The writing style was a little disjointed with chapters ending too abruptly.

Random find on the Southbank bookstalls in London yesterday. I loved this series growing up
“‘You could rattle the stars,‘ she whispered. ‘You could do anything, if you only dared…‘”

This is probably one of the most memorable of all #SweetValleyHigh books! Beautiful Regina‘s brush with drugs & the rougher side of Sweet Valley has a tragic ending that has stuck with every reader of the series that I‘ve ever met! Amy‘s got her eyes set on Bruce, & after a disastrous cookout at the Wakefields, Regina pushes everyone except her new friend Justin away. But Justin has some friends with shady connections… completely heartbreaking!

It just doesn‘t get better than this. This sequel is incredible on every level. The twists, the new relationships formed, the brilliance of a political revolution crafted from the inside, I love it all! Third time reading and it‘s even better than the first. I can‘t recommend this sci-fi series enough. If you can handle the gruesome nature of war, this one is so worth it.

Here's what I'm #CurrentlyReading today. At 966 pages, I imagine I'll be reading Alchemised for many, many moons. I'm reading my gorgeous FairyLoot edition. Hekate is from my Edelweiss backlist TBR, and Aubrey Wants to Die is an eArc because I desperately need something humorous and light.
