Nightbane (The Lightlark Saga Book 2) | Alex Aster
6 posts | 13 read | 2 to read
"The seductive and action-packed follow-up to Alex Asters instant #1 New York Times, #1 Wall Street Journal, and internationally bestselling novel, Lightlark Isla Crown has secured the love of two powerful rulers and broken the curses that plagued the six realms for centuries, but few know the true origins of her powers. Now, in the wake of a crushing betrayal, Isla finds herself hungry for distraction, preferring to frequent Lightlarks seductive haunts instead of embracing her duties as the newly crowned leader of two separate realms. Worse, her fellow rulers havent ceded victory quietly, and there are others in Islas midst who dont believe her ascent to power was earned. As certain death races toward Lightlark and secrets from the past begin to unravel, Isla must weigh her responsibility to her people against the whims of the most dangerous traitor of all: her heart. Alex Asters intricate world expands after the riveting culmination of the Centennial games, delving more deeply into Islas memories of her past, as her future hurtles toward two possible fates."

Hadn't heard of this series until I saw the author on one of those morning shows talking about the release of the 3rd book of the series. I liked the 1st one (4 stars) and although the build up in this 2nd book was a little slow, the ending was SO so good. Such an exquisite cliffhanger!! It all had to be written the way it was for the readers to be extremely invested in the outcome of these characters. Looking forward to reading the last book. 5⭐

I know a lot of people didn‘t like Lightlark, but I did and I enjoyed this one just as much, can‘t wait for the conclusion in November.

I do love this series but didn‘t like this as much as the first book… also… it‘s hard to say what is disturbing about the plot without giving spoilers… but again, creepy guys. I‘ll still read more however.

4⭐️ I feel like anything and everything I want to say would spoil this book. It‘s a similar concept to book 1 in that the rulers only have a set # of days to save LightLark, however this time Isla has her powers. The book hops between before Centennial and present day, but is remembering worth the pain? All previous characters make an appearance, and introduces some new ones. Decent sequel- can‘t wait for the 3rd!!

This picked up right where the last one left off, but this time Isla remembers her time with Grim. As she remembers more, learns to wield her power, and prepares for the coming war there are so many choices Isla has to make.

Sequel to Lightlark. In the wake of the breaking of the curses, Isla has to regain her memories stolen by the ruler of Nightshade to fight to keep Lightlark from falling.
