The first part of this huge collection is done. Read the first two short stories as my #DoubleSpin this month. Both stories are good and very Warhammer-ish, but too similar if read directly after each other. The first story is set before Xenos, the second one after. The stories are recommended for fans of Eisenhorn, especially since we learn how he lost his hand in the second one.

Luke-XVX Do you play 40K? 3d
Jari-chan @Luke-XVX I read it mostly 😅 I'm not really into the game itself, though, because I'm not really a gamer per se 🙈 But I love the lore 😅 3d
Luke-XVX Some of my friends are diehards for it. I don‘t have the eyesight for painting tiny miniatures. Looks cool though 3d

Jari-chan @Luke-XVX Relatable. I don't have the patience to do it. I do have a set of my favourite characters though. 3d
Luke-XVX Tyranids looks badass and I like Blood Angels. How about you? (edited) 3d
TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!! 3d
Jari-chan @Luke-XVX Blood Angels are really cool! I also like Eldar after reading several books about them. The Adepta Sororitas are also one of my favourites. And Gaunt and his Ghosts will always have a place in my heart. 3d

The_Book_Ninja I decided this should be my first foray into 40k. I‘m on the last 3rd of Malleus but I did the same as you, didn‘t read one after the other. I sometimes get lost in the terminology but they‘re good pulpy sci-fi with a dash of Lovecraft 3d
Jari-chan @The_Book_Ninja Yeah, the terminology can be hard to get into, but once you know the most important ones, it'll get easier. I hope you'll enjoy those books 3d

I think for now five adventures are enough. The stories all work pretty much the same way, if you know one book, you know them all. Usually, I think that's pretty fun, but right now I'm not in the state of mind to listen to Cain. Also, I got tired of the Male Gaze pretty fast. And even though I really like Jurgen, it's not enough to keep me going. This series is paused for now.

Love this author however this book did nothing to move the Horus Heresy story arc forward. It's supposed to cover this large monumental tank battle, the basis for the book, a pivotal engagement in the larger narrative. Ends up reading like a footnote.

Was excited about this book as this covers some of my favorite characters in the Horus Heresy 40K universe. While some characters had an interesting arc, my favorite character came off as whinny. Not the best entry in the Horus Heresy.

Enjoyed this one. Action packed and the origins of the Grey Knights explained.

I had high hopes for this one. Honestly I find this author's books to be misses in the series. So much potential to finally get the scoop on the emperor but he almost seems like a secondary character in this book. Also not a fan of this author's writing style.

Giving this a go after playing some Space Marine 2. Really want to dig into some Warhammer 40k lore. Enjoying it so far.
