I am pleased to be getting my teeth into this memoir after following her journey as President of the Australian Human Rights Commission in the media and then seeing her speak about her book at the Ubud Writers Festival in October. #UWRF18

Finished this on the plane home from Bali last night, after seeing Clementine talk and then sign my copy at the #UWRF18 😍.
Clementine is a trailblazer. I know some object to her fearless style, but I think she is awesome. She is doing such important work.
This book opened my eyes even wider to patriarchy, toxic masculinity, rape culture and how we are all unwittingly socialised to maintain systems of power. Essential reading.

Jeg As you know I got the book. I had it out when my daughter visited before we left. I so wanted her to read it. She picked it up and read the cover and said “ I hate that saying” and put it down. I thought oh well ! After they had gone I couldn‘t find the book. Turns out she had accidentally picked it up with some papers. I suggested she give it a go. Fingers crossed! 😊 6y

Got to see a favourite Australian author Gail Jones talk about her latest novel, followed by Clementine Ford & Reni Eddo-Lodge on a panel discussing their work and the positives & perils of social media. Next up Hanif Kureishi 😲. And finally a panel of AMAZING young women discussing #metoo and its impact and relevance in Indonesia, India and Australia.

Intimacy | Hanif Kureishi

Two more days until the Ubud Writers and Readers Festival #UWRF18 👏📚🌴. I am going with a group of friends, none of whom are on Litsy.

Ubud is in Bali, Indonesia. It‘s the 15th year of the festival which was started following the notorious Bali bombings as a celebration of human resiliency, rights and of course literature.

I wonder whether any of you are going to be there? 🙏📚😊
