A second still-wrapped Folio bargain snagged for the less-than-princely sum of £2.49. I think this particular treasure house (charity shop) is exhausted of jewels for the time being, but a couple of nice finds was most welcome.
saresmoore Excellent! 6y
Bookwomble @saresmoore Yes! Although, my morbid inner narrator tells me that two pristine, wrapped Folios appearing in a charity shop probably means that somebody died and their undiscerning next of kin cleared their house without appreciating what they were giving away. On the other hand, orphans have my money, so it's swings and roundabouts 😔 (I'm available for motivational workshops and after-dinner speeches.) 6y

LeahBergen What!!?? I‘m green with envy! 😍😍 I love this book. 6y
arubabookwoman Beautiful edition of an excellent book (I just read it this week). For more on Richard III I also liked #TheSunneInSplendour. 6y
Bookwomble @LeahBergen I bought it mainly because I could, but it does seem to be very well regarded so I'm expecting good things from it 😊 6y
Bookwomble @arubabookwoman The illustrations look particularly good in thus edition. 6y
Bookwomble @arubabookwoman What did you think of A Daughter out Time, Deborah? 6y
arubabookwoman @Bookwomble I liked the historical fiction aspect of it. I think it documents the facts and opinions it sets forth very well. It is very sympathetic to Richard III, which I think was not the prevailing view at the time it was published (1950). I don‘t often read “classic crime” fiction, but I also enjoyed the only other book by Tey I‘ve read, #BratFarrar. (edited) 6y
Bookwomble @arubabookwoman Brat Farrer is the only book I've read by Tey - it was on our school curriculum when I was in short trousers. 6y
