The Neverending Story | Michael Ende, Ralph Manheim

My all-time favorite book. I chose this as my entry for #themummy. I compared the ancient text in the book coming to life to an ancient ruler coming to life, like a mummy 🤷🏻‍♀️.

LibrarianRyan I miss my copy. I had an old (er) original copy with full color illustrations and the red/green print. It was damaged beyond repair when the basement flooded. One day I shall find a replacement. 7y

Well, my first idea was HH from Lolita (I was so proud to have thought of it 😂) but @Kalalalatja already thought of that one so here's another go: Jay Gatsby! There are a lot of possessive lovers out there, but it's harder to find one who has lost a lover and is trying to get them back. Othello has a nice rage going for him, but that's more a jealousy thing than what the Mummy has going. #themummy #monstermadness2017

#MonsterMadness2017 #day3 #TheMummy Lover. ✔️Check. Lonely.✔️Check. Melodramatic.✔️Check. Possessive.✔️Check. Heathcliff fits the Mummy's characteristics perfectly, he lost his love, so of course he proceeded to make the world burn. As far as he was concerned, if he couldn't have what he wanted (you can't say happy coz I don't think he had that capacity at all) then everyone else had to be as miserable & despairing as him. Lovely guy!👍
