Enjoyed this re-read for #bookspin but had forgotten how bloody long it is! Not quite as good as the witching hour, but good to get more of Lasher‘s history, and also hear more from Julian, whom I LOVE

I'm excited! Finally carved out some time to binge watch the TV show. I am ready to be destroyed!

I think every teacher in this building deserves free books and more but my spirit animal deserves the world! She was telling me about this amazing series and turns out I added it to my TBR in 2017.

5feet.of.fury A classic! 2mo

Honestly my favorite book of all time. Lost count of how many readings! Just shelve any apprehensions and read it! You‘ll have a new hero

Reason for reading: I‘ve been an Anne Rice fan since I was 17 (that‘s appx 500 years for anyone counting; just kidding…I‘m not a gorgeous or angsty immortal vampire being—or am I?).

The good: Lestat is the same old Brat Prince he ever was, so if you‘re into that…

The bad: 300 pgs too long, way too much talking.

Conclusion: I didn‘t hate this book but I did a mini groan every time I picked it up & I was so happy to be done with it.

🕯 this book is in my house since forever, I think my mom bought it in 1999 or 2000 (the price is still in Lire and not Euros) but I've never read it..

ShyBookOwl Haha ohhhh I was OBSESSED with Rice in high school. I first read this one in middle school. I've outgrown her now, but so many memories of little goth me flood back when I see her books 😅 4mo
La_Cori @ShyBookOwl I've never had a real gothic phase in my reading life, so I don't know much about this series.. in my teenage years I was reading thrillers and spy novels (and now, 20 years later I can't stand them 🤷🏻‍♀️ they make me too anxious😅) 4mo

Ruthiella I‘d be curious to hear what you make of this. I read it when I was in college and loved it and read the next two sequels right after, but I have tried other Rice books later in life and didn‘t love them. 4mo
La_Cori @Ruthiella maybe I'll try and read it.. I've never seen the movie or the tv series either, so I'll go in totally blind 4mo

Screenshot from Books in the Freezer insta-reel. A hilarious annotation inspired by if Lestat was written during GRWM popularity.
Annotation reads: Hey guys, welcome back to my YouTube channel.

I love that I saw this on tiktok and then again on Instagram… and it probably originated on tumblr 😂

Ruthiella 😂 Lestat would 100% be on all the social media platforms! 4mo
annamatopoetry It IS from tumblr! 😂 7d
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @annamatopoetry, all the good stuff is tbh 7d
annamatopoetry @thegirlwiththelibrarybag true! I found the original post, which is by user smokiedokie and is even better, because it opens with this: "I opened my copy of The Tale of the Body Thief & immediately had to close it again because of this silly little annotation" 7d

#doublespin done! Another reread of the vampire chronicles and I enjoyed this! A lot of reviews mention it being rambly but I always quite enjoy Anne Rice‘s little philosophical diversions… and I bloody love Lestat and how much he loves himself 😆

This also fits into #promptmaze as a dubious ‘glow-up‘ (body swapping!) - could also have been categorised as make up or break up honestly but glow up felt most appropriate!

Emilymdxn I just finished rereading interview with the vampire I really want to do the whole series now! 5mo
bekakins @Emilymdxn I am re-reading them (plus the Mayfair Witches) extremely slowly after having interview as a team read in Scarathlon 2022! I find I can‘t read them in quick succession as they‘re so dense but really enjoying dipping back into them as an adult (I was OBSESSED as a teen!) 5mo
