Here‘s my #BookPeople haul! I grabbed this cool edition of #Frankenstein because it‘s so pretty. Maybe now I‘ll finally read it. 😬 I bought #TheIdiot based on @saresmoore ‘s recent posts. Hubby grabbed the #Vonnegut mug for me because he feeds my addiction. 😆 #ATX #bookhaul

Pickpick

Reading #theidiot has made me think a lot about format. Typically, I don‘t mind reading on my Kindle at all, but with this novel, the switch to a “real” book made a huge difference. I was totally captivated by it the second time around. Perhaps it was timing?

Anyone else have this experience?

Selin, a Harvard student, stuck thinking about language and its relation it has to expressing thought and more distinctly, Love. #theidiot #fiction I‘m not sure what to think of it, except, I couldn‘t put it down. The book wasn‘t deeply thought provoking, nor relatable due to the incredible privileged life style she lived. But the sends of numbness and pain of being lead on felt relatable. 3.75/5📖

Emilymdxn I just finished this book too! There were some aspects I couldn‘t relate to (particularly as a British person with no clue how American universities work) but the protagonist felt so real and it was so original. 7y
Imbookenit @Emilymdxn Harvard‘s school system is deferent from many colleges, so I also had a hard time relating to that too. I felt the protagonist was gray. All the other characters made her story interesting. Which I guess was her point. 7y

The third Dostoyevsky book I have read. The Idiot is about a prince who has epilepsy and because of this all the characters around him believe him to be an idiot. In reality he is the most wise and kindest of all the characters. Due to his kindness he becomes trapped in a hero complex that makes him want to "save" the "mad" and beautiful Nastasya Filippovna from insanity. 4/5?#dostoyevsky #theidiot #fiction

Mehso-so

It was a slow start at first. However it does pick up, although it has its moments of confusion. If you have ever read #FyodorDostoevsky #TheIdiot, the text structure is similar to that. In other words, in the midst of slight confusion, you find revelation and inspiring pieces that entices you to keep reading till the end. 😏
