Read in 2024. There‘s a lot going on in this story: parent abandonment, drug abuse/DV/emotional abuse, jealousy. The story spans over many years. It was a decent story. I really liked Benjamin‘s research that she did about the history of surfing (which I found more interesting & found more books to read).
It has to be said, Sophie Kinsella is one of my favourite authors of all time when I need a palate Sophie writes characters that you instantly bond with and form a genuine affection for, which is truly a gift to be able to do in every book she writes. I loved the concept of people struggling with burnout going to their favourite childhood happy places to seek solace- a delightful read ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Sasha takes a break away from work and life in London. She returns to the seaside resort she loved as a child, determined to reset her batteries and find peace.
Only the hotel is now off season and crumbling to pieces. She has to share the beach and hotel with a grumpy man who has his own issues to deal with.
I felt the plot was quite static and not a lot happened. The characters were eccentric and the hotel couldn‘t function in real life. 3🌟
I love this story and grew up with it. It‘s a very inspiration plot about a girl who was tragically attacked by a shark when she was surfing. The story is about how she overcomes and still peruses her passion of surfing.
My Saturday night reading buddy (Belle) ❤️🐶🐾📚
Weekend reading. I‘ve been a big fan of Sophie Kinsella so I‘m hoping this one is just as good as her other books. 📚💕

This is the only one I could think of. Curious to see what my fellow Littens come up with.
Took a looking time to get through this but I loved the cast of characters.
Maudie lives with her mom and stepdad during the school year but is starting another summer with her dad when they have to evacuate due to a wildfire. As they find a place to stay near the beach, Maudie begins making new friends. As the reader learns about autism through her experiences, she keeps secrets from her dad about learning to surf and life with her mom. I loved Maudie‘s first person story.
