So ends this meditative, lingering experience, with this quote from Rumi. Appropriate for our current time. #NFNovember #book1

Singout A poignant quote as I visit my parents: my dad has just returned from rehab after three months and will probably never walk again. He‘s trying very hard with walkers, wheelchairs, and stair gliders, but it‘s really hard. For him and us. 2w

kspenmoll @Singout I am so sorry to hear about your dad & how devastating it must be for him & all of you to feel his struggle. Sending love.❤️ 1w

kspenmoll @AnnCrystal @Suet624 @dabbe Beautiful book. It seems to intersect with The Universe in Verse & the #naturalitsy book, The Cabaret of Plants, which I just opened. 2w

For those of you who are retired or getting close to retiring I hope you can take some Inspiration from John O‘Donohue. I love everything about this blessing, with every line carrying a potent offering.

This book is special to me not only because of the brilliance of this Irishman but because I purchased this collection while traveling in Ireland.

Jeg I wish time would slow but I don't know about you Sue but for me it has speeded up. 1mo

Suet624 @Jeg I‘ve worked for years under a great deal of stress and a fast pace. So I‘ve had to come to terms with the fact that I don‘t have to rush, that I can read for hours in a chair or go for long walks. I still see kids and grandkids and have a variety of obligations but it all feels much slower. I have to remind myself that this a good thing. That I can explore other things I didn‘t have time for before. And yet, I know what you mean. 🔽 1mo
Suet624 Days feel quicker and sometimes I can‘t keep up. What do you find is making time speed up? (edited) 1mo
Jeg My dad always said the older he got the faster time went . So I‘m thinking maybe just getting older is what makes it seem to be going faster. 1mo
Suet624 @Jeg A spiritual person once said that the speed of our life was like an audio tape. As the right side of the tape was getting closer to the end the wheel was moving very quickly. So that would support your feeling life was speeding up. 😊. (Don‘t know if that makes sense the way I wrote it, but…) (edited) 1mo
Mollyanna I am six months from retirement and this was perfect! Thank you for sharing. 1mo
Suet624 @Mollyanna it‘s a roller coaster ride, one of delight and sometimes confusion about your worth and what to do next. At least it was for me. One that you‘ll eventually find your way through. This blessing really helps to provide some comfort and direction. Stay in touch and let me know how it‘s going once you embark on that journey. 1mo
Mollyanna That is helpful to hear. I have had mixed emotions as it gets nearer, from excitement to straight up fear to hope to everything. I will definitely keep this blessing in my back pocket for reassurance 😊. 1mo
Suet624 @Mollyanna best wishes to you. 💕💕 1mo

I wasn‘t sure at first on this book, but the more I read, I started to see a full vision of what could be. I think a lot about the type of home we are creating for my kids-the environment, stretching, encouragement, etc. This book gave some excellent guidelines and ideas to help make our home a place where our kids can thrive!

This is either one of the best books I‘ve read on the Christian practice of contemplation—or I read it at exactly the right time. Or both. It made connections between contemplation and the fruit of the practice in ways that clicked for me. I‘ve found contemplation to be an exercise in trust & letting go. Laird‘s descriptions of the journey into silence dovetailed with that experience—it resonated deeply. I‘m so glad I read it at the time I did.
