After 6 months in the wild, my #owlpost book has come home. And it brought a friend! Thanks, @Soubhiville , I‘m excited for this one! I‘m glad this book was stimulating—the discussion in the notebook is great. My apologies for it being triggering for some. So many people have been touched by addiction that this was a risk.

Hooked_on_books @wen4blu You mentioned the publisher and you‘re right about this book coming from a unique place. I found it at the Portland Book Festival a couple years ago. They have a great vendor floor which is very dangerous if you‘re prepared to spend money and I was! 😆 It‘s a great place to find unique books. 5y

Soubhiville @Cinfhen I liked The Almost Sisters. There was focus not just on sisterly relationships, but those with nieces, grandmothers, and female friends. I loved the main character, a comic book artist who finds she‘s gotten pregnant accidentally. I also loved her grandmother, who is suffering from a type of dementia, but still wants control of her small town southern life. 5y

Soubhiville @Cinfhen it could be a good choice. It‘s a fun quick read, but there are issues to discuss- elder care, a bit of mystery, a bit about technology, and racism. I found it predictable, but not in a way that detracted from enjoying it. 5y

Soubhi, you have spoiled me! 😍 I was excited to see what book you‘ve picked for #OwlPost (and had to chuckle—it‘s so you) and imagine my delight when I saw you‘ve not only included a signed first edition of the latest Ann Patchett but these marvelous paw prints! I assume you made them—they‘re wonderful. And the dogs were very interested in the paper they were wrapped in. 😆 Thank you so much!

Soubhiville I did make them! And the paper came from Froedrick‘s box of tissue he plays in, so I‘m sure it was redolent of cat 😸. Bet they‘ve never smelled hairless cat before! I hope you like The Dutch House. I almost got myself a copy too, it‘s so pretty! 5y

She said she described to a painter friend what she wanted for the cover and he whipped that up in 4 days! It‘s hanging in her house. This is why I love podcasts. I was truly over the moon when I saw this book. Thank you so much. 5y

Colony of Unrequited Dreams | Wayne Johnston

After around two and a half years, my #owlpost book has found its way back to me! I‘ve enjoyed reading everyone‘s comments and give my thanks to everyone who read it. I‘m usually not much for rereading, but I read this book around 15 years ago or so and look forward to reading it again sometime later this year.

I‘m not sure how many times I‘ve read this old favorite. I love it every single time. This was the book I chose for my long term postal bookclub. In reading through the notebook I was surprised how many hadn‘t heard of the book or movie! I always assumed it was just as well known as LOTR or Harry Potter! In my family it‘s as loved as The Wizard of Oz!

I‘m glad to have been able to share it with so many, and happy most enjoyed reading it!
