If I Did it: Confessions of the Killer | O. J. Simpson, Goldman Family

Mehso-so

O.K., I need some ear bleach after listening to this audiobook. 😤 I‘ve gone back down the rabbit hole of the infamous murders of Nicole Brown & Ron Goldman after O.J. passed earlier this year. The fact that O.J. would even write a book like this just solidifies his guilt imo. I only deigned to read it because it was published by the Goldman family and he did not make money off of it. It is basically one long “poor me” story about how O.J. was ⬇️

JenlovesJT47 Just such a nice guy and how awful Nicole was and everything was her fault. Basically one long victim blaming pile of 💩. Even in the chapter about the murders, he also said a bunch of nasty stuff about Ron. It‘s only worth reading for the hour intro read by Kim Goldman about why they chose to take control over this book. There‘s also an intro by the ghost writer, who also thinks he‘s guilty. Worth reading if you‘re interested in this case or ⬇️ 3mo
JenlovesJT47 True crime, just prepare yourself to get angry! 3⭐️ #truecrime #audiobook 3mo

Soscha Lots of grace their children didn‘t seem to see or hear the murders as they occurred. 3mo
JenlovesJT47 @Soscha yes! Thank God for Kato the dog alerting the neighbors that something was wrong. He was a good boy. ❤️🐾 3mo
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I‘m remember being glued to the tv during this trial!! So sad!! 3mo
JenlovesJT47 @kspenmoll 🤓 ear bleach seems pretty appropriate after reading this book. 😤 They have a subreddit called Eye Bleach with lots of pics of dogs and cats. We need something like that for the ears! 😆 3mo

@MidnightBookGirl 🌚
This guy, what a creep! It's basically a narcissistic murderer blaming his victims and braggingabout how he got away with it.. It made me so angry.🤬 The only reason I don't feel terrible for even reading it is because the proceeds went to the Goldman family.

LibrarianRyan Have u heard the theory that it was actually his son and that is why the gloves didn‘t fit? I heard it recently and it was interesting. 3y
Tera66 @LibrarianRyan No, I hadn't heard that😳😮. The whole thing is crazy, looking back the whole circus of it all.🎪 3y
bookaholic1 @LibrarianRyan I heard that as well, very interesting 3y
MidnightBookGirl I recently got the audiobook for the same reason- to support the Goldman family. Haven't actually read it yet though. 3y
Tera66 @MidnightBookGirl I did this on audio too, I'm glad it supported the Goldman family, but looking back I regret listening to it. It's pretty much a smear campaign against Nicole. A lot of "see why she deserved it?" 3y

Jeff Toobin is one my favorite non fiction writers. His books read like novels and this is no exception. I was obsessed with trial in the 90‘s and saw the famous Ford Bronco at the crime museum in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee

I have no idea what this bath bomb is called because it was part of a huge Lush haul that I got recently. It smells weird but looks amazing! Little fried eggs on the surface and a massive amount of pink. I‘m trying, in vain, to relax even though lots of things are going to shit. I‘m going to finish my current read while crafting later and then have an early night (in theory anyway!)

I‘ve always been fascinated by the O.J. Simpson case. I found this on Audible Plus and figured it was finally time to mark this off my TBR.

Everything surrounding this case is tragic. So many people were affected by his actions. This had some interesting parts but did drag in places. I‘d give this a low pick at 3.5⭐️ The narrator is decent but a bit stiff.

I am so fascinated by this trial and how a “not guilty” verdict was reached and what that says about how jurors make decisions. Really enjoyed this one.

Second finish for #24in48

MissAimz_55 The oj Simpson always interests me. It‘s crazy (edited) 5y

This is the fascinating account of OJ‘s former manager. He colluded with O.J. during the trial, and ultimately helped get him acquitted. I loved having the perspective of one of OJ‘s cohorts, but although Gilbert is now remorseful for how long he remained loyal to O.J., he also admits that he knew immediately that O.J. killed Nicole. I found that a tough pill to swallow. Apparently Gilbert is remorseful now, but I think it‘s all self serving.

Mdargusch I didn‘t realize any of his henchmen had admitted he was guilty! 5y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I remember this like it was yesterday... I was on maternity leave and watched it all day... 💔💔 5y
KT1432 Did he say OJ did it himself? I always thought he hired someone 5y

ljuliel Have you ever studied the video of Robert Kardashian‘s face when the jury reads the Not Guilty verdict ? There‘s another one for you that knew all along that he was helping to defend a guilty man. Also, have you listened to the podcast done last summer by Kim Goldman called Confronting OJ Simpson ? Quite interesting info in it. 5y
Reviewsbylola Yes, OJ did it himself, however the author frames it as OJ losing it in the moment and killing her in a crime of passion. Not premeditated. @lele1432 (edited) 5y
Reviewsbylola I have not but the author touches on it in this book so I will! He said Kardashian had already signed a book deal behind OJ‘s back so he really needed him to be found guilty. @ljuliel 5y
KT1432 Wow. Crazy so many people covered for him! @ljuliel I also thought Kardashian knew he was guilty as well smh 5y
Eggs Wow 5y
MicheleinPhilly Fun fact: My wife was an au pair in Brentwood and lived next door to O.J. 😱 5y
Reviewsbylola I think I remember you saying that actually!! @MicheleinPhilly What was her impression of him? 5y
MicheleinPhilly I probably have told you that before. I like to throw that little factoid out at every appropriate opportunity. 😂 Very charismatic and very creepy. He used to chat her up out by the basketball court (BLONDE HOTTIE.) And this was during his civil trial so she already knew what he was. It grosses me out every time I think about it. 5y
Reviewsbylola Um if it were my wife, I would literally bring it up at every opportunity. 😆 I think his trial really killed him, as he wasn‘t anticipating the backlash when he was acquitted. And there was nothing more important to him than his image. @MicheleinPhilly 5y
Mdargusch So creepy @MicheleinPhilly and I‘m glad I happened to read this about your wife. I have never heard about that! 5y

ljuliel If you‘re interested in this story and a bit more about how this book came out, there‘s a really good podcast by Kim Goldman , called Confronting OJ Simpson. Very good. You learn a lot of “ behind the scenes “ stuff that went on before, during and after the trial. 5y
arlenefinnigan @ljuliel ooh that does sound interesting, will check it out. 5y
CrowCAH Perfect choice! 🔪 5y
arlenefinnigan @ljuliel wow Malcolm LaVergne is an absolute piece of shit isn't he. 5y

It reminded me of hearing a little kid say they weren't totally wrong in hurting a friend because, after all, that friend called them a bad name first, so they aren't a bad kid, just misunderstood... Really, if it had just been the text of the book by O.J. I might have not even finished it.
