pickSteinbeck is my favorite writer but I‘ve never dug too deeply into his biography; I‘ve always felt that his work is biographical in many ways without need for much supplement. But when I came across this I had to read it.
It‘s a fine book, though I wish it were more in depth. Souder breezes over a lot of Steinbeck‘s life details; it feels more like Steinbeck101 instead of a comprehensive curriculum. Still, worth a read, especially for writers.

#BookReport - I honestly read way more than I was anticipating this week. Besides the books that are checked off, I also started reading Peter Pan (wow that one is weird) & read the tagged book as well, which wasn't on my original plan for the week, but I really needed to break up all these mysteries! Hoping to finish If I Never Met You today, but my husband is in serious “work on the big project“ mode today so there may not be much reading time.
so-soSo this was definitely not one of Roberts's stronger works. It was published in 1983 and boy you can tell. The heroine is a whirlwind of intelligence & optimism, the hero a brooder who has never really realized how beautiful life can be. There are some almost-rapey scenes where the strong hero grabs her & kisses her into submission & that sort of thing. I still would have given it a soft pick, but the end of the book goes off the rails with ⬇️

For this readathon, I'm going to try to read 2000 pages. I've really been enjoying page goals for this readathon each month, mainly because it involves me creating a little graph in my journal & then coloring in the squares & who doesn't want to do that??

I went to a book sale this morning! This is a stack of books I‘ve already read and loved (except for 2.) The tagged book was on the local authors signed copy shelf. They are now waiting patiently for their turn to visit a Little Free Library.
