I think I just shouldn‘t read psychological thrillers because I don‘t find them satisfying. I‘m going with pick for this because I thought it was well written, but the so-called twists seemed awfully obvious to me. I intended to read this for #NewYearWhoDis2022 but I didn‘t get around to it at the beginning of the year. I‘m glad I finally got there.

Bookwormjillk Cool cover! 2y
monalyisha I‘m not a thriller gal, either…but had been considering this because of all the rave reviews! Do you at least feel smart and superior when you‘re right in your suppositions? 😉 Because that can be satisfying! 😅 2y
Ruthiella Thrillers always grab me with the blurb but often lose me in the execution. I also got the twist pretty early in this book. But overall I enjoyed it. 2y
CarolynM @monalyisha No, I don‘t feel smart🤔 maybe I should start thinking of it that way😉🤣 I think there‘s a good story to be told here, and the writer does a pretty good job of it, but I‘d have liked it better without the thriller element. @Ruthiella 2y
monalyisha @CarolynM I‘m glad it has its redeeming elements because it‘s looking like I may end up having to read it for my book club next year, anyway. 😅 2y

Izumi, a Japanese American young adult discovered that her father is a prince in Japan. She want to discover her heritage roots his father family and will travel to Japan. Izumi question who she is, her cultural identity where she feels rejection in America for being a Japanese and in Japan for being a foreigner. The story is okay but cute with expected characters YA behaviors and expressions. 3⭐️I will like to read the sequel.

Yay! It‘s here!
This is so wonderfully and lovingly wrapped that I almost don‘t want to unwrap it. However, the suspense is killing me, because I really cannot remember which book I selected as the gift. Thank you, Alyisha, for the awesome opportunity to participate in the coolest swap of book ideas and reading moments.

Now to get on with the surprise…
🤗

monalyisha Ha! An unintentional & happy side effect of my procrastination. Perfect. 💯 3y
Nute @monalyisha Right on, Girl!😆 3y

Amiable Ha! I‘d forgotten which one I picked, too! 😀 3y
readordierachel The wrapping is just adorable 3y
monalyisha I hope you were pleased with your choice! I remember which book you picked & I‘m excited for you to read it! It‘s an especially good one for April, I think. 3y
S3V3N Cool! I‘ve been missing swaps lately.🤦🏾‍♀️ I‘ve got to stay my active. 3y
Nute @readordierachel I liked the wrapping paper as well. Even when looking at the wrapping paper in front of you, the sprinkles are so realistic… it feels like a handful is there for the taking.🙃 3y
Nute @BeaG I know that school is keeping you busy. I hope that things are going well. Many prayers for focus, energy and stamina. Also some downtime for reading. Take care, Jocelyn!💕 3y
Nute @ShelleyBooksie I agree!🙂 3y
Nute @monalyisha The book choice was perfect for April. Her poet‘s vibe is felt here. I enjoyed it. I haven‘t been keeping up with writing ‘reviews‘ about the books that I have read. I think that is part of the reading slump that I am in. Nothing is as usual…even the aftermath.😐 Thank you for the effort that you put into Who Dis. You are amazing, Alyisha!💕 3y
Nute @Amiable It‘s always fun with the two of us together, Amy!💕 3y

I had so much fun reading this (had to move away from the window the night I stayed up to 2am to finish!)! I loved World War Z and Devolution didn‘t disappoint! As a child, I was certain that Sasquatch was alive & well & living in CT. I saw myself in so many of the references and to this day I‘m known for my Tall Man love! I have multiple stickers, T-shirts, & a Squatch air freshener hanging from my rear view mirror. Yes, a perfect match for me!

I'm fascinated that so many reviews characterize this book as a thriller. For me it was much more a story that challenged the idealisation of motherhood and explored the challenges faced by women who don't experience it as they are expected to. I found Blythe completely relatable and I wanted to scream at her husband for his lack of support. Thanks @AmyG I liked this a lot. #NewYearWhoDis2022 @monalyisha

AmyG Agreed. It was as if nobody supported or believed her. I, too, found her very relatable. (edited) 3y
CarolynM @AmyG I'm also interested in how many reviewers think that Blythe didn't love Violet and that led to Violet's behaviour. I don't think that's right at all. It also ignores the father's role and the dynamics between all of them. 3y
Cathythoughts Nice review 👍 I have this on kindle, must get to it soon 🤞 3y
AmyG I truly believed Violet was “a bad seed”....or one in the making, made worse by her family situation. 3y
BookLineNSinker I definitely questioned Blythe's errors in her parenting.. but then comes into question nature vs. nurture, right? 3y

@monalyisha

TrishB Have you brought the tagged one yet Carolyn? 3y
CarolynM @TrishB No, I haven't got that one. 3y
