What is everyone thinking?!

mcipher I‘m having a hard time picking - none are jumping out at me but I‘m curious about The Book of Witches and The Dagger and the Flame (even though both are out of my comfort zone!) 3mo
bookish_wookish I was going to get that one but its young adult so i wasnt sure about it so I went with The Book of Witching. @mcipher 3mo

Labor Day | Joyce Maynard

1. On Labor Day my sister and I met for brunch and a tour of Nationals Park which included a visit to the fancy suites where a picture of the 1924 World Series hangs.
2. I finally got to read in my new patio chair.
3. More kittens on the pet calendar.
4. The problem with the dryer was a broken start button, which was an easy fix.
5. I went to a conference in DC yesterday & took this picture on the way back to the subway. Story below. #5joysfriday

Susanita As I was walking down Constitution Avenue, I came across two Buddhist monks who asked for my help with the parking meter. This was harder than it should have been, because the directions were incorrect! Finally, with the help of another passerby who knew what to do, we were able to print the receipt so they could park legally. After making angels-singing noises, I looked across the street and took a picture of the Washington Monument. 4mo

Quiet, overcast, and a high of 58° up here in Anchorage, but I hope all you folks with the day off are enjoying it! Happy Labor Day!

9-1-24: My 31st finished book of 2024! This is a sequel to Maynard‘s novel, Count The Ways. Eleanor has come back to the farm to help her ex husband, Cam, as he is dying. Following this, Eleanor has to decide if she will stay with her older, brain-injured son, Toby. The story goes back and forth in time between 1977 and 2024. Eleanor and her children, Toby, Al and Ursula all have their own lives and Eleanor is trying to find her path.

September BOTM picks are live!

What is everyone thinking?!

LiteraryinPA It‘s awesome that they are out so early, but I‘m not actually interested in any of them. I also feel like all the predictions were way off, because I hadn‘t heard of most of these. Oh well! What did you decide? 4mo
bookish_wookish I got a little out of control and got Blue Sisters, Phantazma, Sleep Tight, The Impossible Life @LiteraryinLawrence Oh and the the short story volume! 😅 4mo

1. I don‘t drink and read 😂 but if I had to, an Aperol spritz is refreshing.

Shelf sort read ! 2 girls born on the same day in a small New Hampshire hospital whose situations couldn‘t be less alike . Ruth longs to pursue art & adventure. She takes for granted her grounded family rooted to a farm for generations. Dana is born to a couple of drifters & dreamers, feeling often she‘s more of the adult than her parents. She is grounded in reality & science.born in 1950, get caught up in the times , think Woodstock & Vietnam.
