JanuarieTimewalker13 I don't know, I think a good clunk on the head may work...the man with the hair (I won't speak his name) maybe would be a better man...we need a good person with empathy and charity. 8y
KVanRead @JanuarieTimewalker13 I feel you. But we just have to find and support those people with empathy and charity with everything we've got. Carry them on our shoulders. Raise them up to lead us forward. 8y
JanuarieTimewalker13 @KVanRead Ok, I'll try to be good, but I really was thinking the bog of eternal stench may have been a good fix for him. Sorry, I just happen to be watching Labyrinth🙂 8y

I wanted to share an article that eloquently explains the heartbreak I feel after the election: http://johnpavlovitz.com/2016/11/09/heres-why-we-grieve-today/?utm_campaign=cosc... -- maybe it will resonate with you, or help you understand why some of us are still weeping. #WeHoldTheLine #MidtermElections2018

DyAnne Thank you. That said it so eloquently. The tears . . . They just keep coming. 8y
Amandajoy Very lovely article. I voted republican in the last 4 presidential elections. This year I voted 3rd party (my state went blue). When my candidates have lost in the past I've said "that sucks" & moved on. This article show why Wednesday morning I cried. It wasn't because Hillary lost, I cried because Trump won & that makes me scared for humanity. 8y
Bookish.Heart That's exactly the feeling. I'm still depressed and emotional 8y

readordierachel Thank you ❤️ 8y
TheBookAddict Wow, thanks for sharing. That is definitely how I feel and it is grief. I've been feeling like I've been mourning, and I have. While I'm still down about it I've been moved into action. Yes, I feel like others look at me like more of an outsider than normal, but that will not stop me. We can do this, we can hold each other's hands and make sure that he doesn't separate us further. 8y
Starfish_Happiness That article puts into words exactly how I feel about this whole mess. Thank you for sharing. 8y
Bibliogeekery 💓💓💓💓 8y
JennyM As an international litten, please know we are right there with you xxx 8y
Magpiegem That's a great article. But some of the comments underneath are just frightening! 8y
Gayan I have not stopped crying, the grief is real. I have four beautiful granddaughters age 3-15 and I am terrified of the world they will grow up in. 8y
BookishMarginalia @Magpiegem I admit I only read the comments on Litsy! 8y
hlgreenfield Thanks for the article! I cried for a while and since then I've been trying to process everything and I don't think I'm there yet, but this helped! ( And I live in Europe, I can't imagine what it must feel like! Probably how I felt after brexit amplified by 1000!) 8y
Godmotherx5 @BookishMarginalia Just today my dad & I were talking about how the US was heading in the right direction. The election results set us back. I worry for my sister. A Hispanic bisexual woman. I want to take her & hide her. Trump & Pence need to learn there are LGBTQ individuals with better morals than those two display. (Rant over 😉) 8y
ReadingsByTheC Thank you for posting. I've been at a business convention all week and having to hold my tongue (and my tears) has been so hard. Seeing all these posts on Litsy has definitely helped. 8y
bookwormmichelle Facebook is so dangerous to be on right now for me. I'm grateful for the support and community here. 8y
ErikaB Thank you for posting this link. It was read through tears, but I'm happy that someone could so eloquently explain it. ❤️ 8y
Mimi28 @bookwormmichelle I had to separate myself from Facebook last year about this time because of the attacks in France. I am on here most of the time now and am much more focused and structured. I have learned a lot about myself, good and bad. Blabbing like you should be journaling to yourself and then reflecting on privately, is not healthy, for me anyway 👍😎 8y
Mimi28 @BookishMarginalia Thanks so much for posting this article. It really expressed how I felt and couldn't materialize or verbalize. I sent it to myself, my mom, and my sponsor. I also subscribed to the newsletter ❤️ 8y
andreadmw Love this. So well said. Thank you for providing this. I knew Litsy would be a calming welcoming place right now. ❤️ 8y
Sarah.Kat @BookishMarginalia That's an excellent article, and so accurately depicts what so many of us are feeling. The heartbreak and true fear is palpable. Thank you for being one more glowing light; I knew Litsy and the Littens would come through for me! 8y
Bette I liked that he wrote it wasn't about winners and losers, that's what I feel as well. It's so much bigger. Thank you for this. 💙❤️️💜 8y
JoRead Exactly my feelings and what I've been trying to convey. I know the sun will come out in the morning but right now it's still dark and cold. Thank you for letting me know that at least I'm not alone ❤❤❤ 8y

ColleenLindsay @MMenefee She predicted the rise of a demagogue who uses the slogan "Make America Great Again!" in this book twenty years ago. Worth reading, especially now. 8y

I'm teaching Lord Tennyson's "Ulysses" in #BritLit and it is especially resonant. Poetry is a balm for the aching soul. #WeHoldTheLine #TeachersofLitsy #MidtermElections2018

TirzahPrice I love that poem and that final line. ❤️ 8y
Tndimatteo I love MOST of the poem. But the way he talks about his wife and son, though. 😳 8y
BookishFeminist So with you on the #MidtermElections2018. I will be volunteering the heck out of my time with Emily's List. 8y

I have barely read in two weeks partly because of work being so busy but also because of my anxiety over the election has been so high all I want to do at night is crawl into bed and hide from this nightmare. I can't even begin to list the things that terrify me about what the next several years will look like in America. As a Hispanic female with a son who has Autism it's scary to know that our new leader doesn't care about me or my family.

Notafraidofwords Words can't describe how similar I feel to you. I am scared that he has devalued people with special needs and has made them feel less than. 8y
britt_brooke I still feel like it's some colossal joke. What a sad time for our country. 💔 8y
RinaBrahmbhattBarot Love!!! Remember Hillary won popular vote! Stay positive and support each other. I truly hope you live in a goo supportive neighbourhood 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 8y

BookishMarginalia I'm terrified too, as a gay Hispanic woman in a same-sex marriage. #WeHoldTheLine #MidtermElections2018 8y
GlitteryOtters I fee the same. As a disabled person with a LBGTQ best friend & many LGBTQ & minority friends living in a very multicultural liberal city surrounded by very conservative white towns I find myself scared, worried and nervous about our collective futures. Sending out all the love to you. 8y
LauraBeth He may not care (and that's his loss) but millions and millions of Americans DO care. Just remember that we didn't elect Trump as a King. We have all kinds of protections in place to prevent the abuse of power. You are valued, your son is valued - and I'm convinced that our country is bigger than this one election 8y
BookishFeminist I love you. You aren't alone. If you need to talk my door is open. you can DM me on any of my social media (in my profile) and happy to give my phone # and email as well. We are fighting this. It's NOT over. Yesterday I mourned and today I start raising hell. We have your back. So many of us care. In fact most of the country does. Litsy cares. You matter. Your son and your family matter. 💖💖 8y
amywithbooks @Notafraidofwords agreed. Part of me hopes that all of the disgusting things he did and said during his campaign were all a ploy to gain support but the damage and the uprising from his supporters cannot be undone 8y
amywithbooks @britt_brooke we just set ourselves back 100 years. I still can't believe it 8y
amywithbooks @MyBookSwapClub thank you! Thankfully where I live we have lots of support but I feel for so many that don't! 8y
amywithbooks @BookishMarginalia my best friend is gay woman in a same-sex marriage and openly cried on a NYC bus yesterday on her work because she is so distraught. Hugs to you. 8y
amywithbooks @GlitteryOtters sending love right back to you. I am hoping everyone bands together to stand up for what's right!! 8y
amywithbooks @LauraBeth thank you! You are absolutely right. I hope that we as a country can unite and continue to support civil rights and equal protections for all! 8y
amywithbooks @BookishFeminist love you. 😘😘😘 thank you. I may very well take you up on that. I feel the same- yesterday I was despondent but as today has worn on I feel pissed off and ready to rock and roll. Let's do this. 💪🏽💪🏽 8y
BookishFeminist @avgeyer Love you too. 😘 Seriously don't hesitate to take me up on it for anything. We have each other. 8y
