MarshmallowAdventures

This book caught my eye at the checkout counter at a bookstore, so I borrowed the audiobook from the library and I don't regret it. I didn't realize the intended audience skewed a bit younger, but it was a wonderful tale with a beautiful voice that touched on a difficult subject in a way that didn't minimize the different forms of heartache that manifest around it.

Its almost funny, me wanting to forget the "everything that happened," when that was exactly where I was still stuck. Maybe the only way to get unstuck was to remember.

Sometimes a stretch of sorrow can make you serious, unsure of who you are on the other side of it all.

3-tagged is a Newbery winner: dog who unwittingly becomes a hero to a park full of animals. Johannes, a free dog, lives in an urban park by the sea. His job is to be the Eyes—to see everything that happens within the park and report back to the park‘s elders, three ancient Bison.

I picked this up for a Decolonize Your Bookshelf challenge. It‘s written by a two-spirit author about a two-spirit child who makes a ribbon skirt to wear to a pow wow. They are nervous about what others will think, but after speaking to the lake spirit and various animal spirits, they decide to do what makes them happy. It‘s a sweet illustrated graphic novel with a great message.

This webcomic was started in 2013. It follows the story of Patrik the Vampire, switching back and forth through several periods of his life. He is certainly a loveable, but flawed, character, and the story goes to some interesting places; however, the artist last posted about three and a half years ago, so who knows if it will continue. Do you have a favorite webcomic that was never concluded?

TieDyeDude BTW, she is still creating and has released three graphic novels, including the adorable Garlic and the Vampire. 2d
willaful “Strong Female Protagonist.“ Both writer and illustrator have gotten so busy, it will probably never be done. :-( 1d
Clare-Dragonfly So many 😕 Templar, AZ comes to mind. Weird slice of semi-post-apocalyptic life. Spike is pretty busy with her successful comic publishing business these days. 1d

Even better than the first book in the series, this sequel offers even more adventure, danger, & mystery. There are strange disappearances, blackmail, friendship, rivalry, & fabulous creatures. The world building is top notch, the characters intriguing, & the story engaging. This well-written series, which is occasionally a little slow moving, is great for young readers as well as readers of any age who appreciate a well told story.

I‘ve never done competitive swimming but know I would have been terribly gracious to my momma‘s ingrown flotation device IYKYK

Plus my school didn‘t have a pool until I graduated. Bad luck as I do enjoy swimming & no longer have access

A great YA graphic with some bullying, social class conflict (rich dad/poor dad). I also covers the racism Black girls have had to deal with their own access to pool use

You see horrible, bullying teacher here.
