I‘m digging this one, but Chabon is probably one of those authors you either love or don‘t appreciate/connect to. His books are a little whacky pants. This book imagines Sitka, Alaska as the newly established Jewish Homeland for the Eastern European Jews following the Holocaust. Book focuses on Meyer Landsman, a washed up detective attempting to solve the murder of a chess prodigy. #ReadingUSA2020 #Alaska

Cinfhen It‘s really a strange book @Cathythoughts @TrishB Id definitely say #BorrowNotBuy so if u want to bail you won‘t feel bad 😆I‘m enjoying but the humor is VERY Eastern European Jewish ....it‘s reminding me of my husband‘s grandparents with all their Yiddish expressions 🧡 5y

Moonglow

Silvertongue I just read The Corrections last month but it was pretty painful to get through—nearly all the characters are exquisitely terrible people. Which I guess is the point of the book? Still working on the meaning of the book~ I thought about not finishing but it was a rec from a good friend. 6y

Blaire I liked both, but I read the corrections ages ago (when it first came out 2001?). I‘d prob read it first. I don‘t mind unlikeable characters. 6y

Creadnorthey Corrections is exquisite- no matter the difficult characters. I took this family drama with a loving dose of black humor. 6y
