Fun and a smile are two things I would use to describe this book. I learned about Mo a few years ago thanks to his cooking show dedicated to learning recipes from grandparents. I loved his personality and attention to random details. Mo provides a well researched background on each topic he covers as well as fun side comments and stories to go along.

I used this for my Herbology OWL exam for the #magicalreadathon2020

This is the first time I‘ve ever read this book but I have such clear memories of this movie that I had such an overwhelming sense of nostalgia. Yes there are the differences but I loved it just the same.

I used this for the muggle studies exam during the OWLs last month for the #magicalreadaton

Shaneyney I absolutely LOVE fH Burnett. Have you read her other books? They are amazing 5y
Schnoebs @Shaneyney no I haven‘t! I don‘t read a lot of fictional classics, I usually stick to nonfiction classics in my field of study but really enjoyed this one that I makes me want to try more. 5y
Shaneyney My favorite by her, really one of my all time favorites, is called Little Lord Fauntleroy. 5y
Teresereading Don't think I have read it, but I listened to a chapter on the Calm app sleepstories last week. Just lovely. 5y
Schnoebs @Tereses I listened to the audiobook and it was amazing 5y

How did everyone do on their OWLs? I was able to complete my Dragon Tamer Training and my requirements for Culinary Sorcerer and Merpeople Linguistics! Not a high star reading month for me but I was able to get to some books that have been siting on my shelf for a while which was great! Can‘t wait for the NEWTs in August.

zezeki I've been seeing this readathon for a while but I can't figure out how exactly works. 😅 5y
Schnoebs @zezeki go to magicalreadathon.com and G has everything explained there. They are based on the two exams at Hogwarts. The NEWTs happen in August and a lot of people who missed the OWLs in April tend to pick a month between not and August to do their OWLs. There are a bunch of resources there for you 🥰 5y
zezeki Thanks!! 5y
OnlyYoo I was able to finish my Alchemist prompt! Very last minute though. I didn‘t realize I couldn‘t double up until late 😅 5y
Schnoebs @OnlyYoo I feel you! Even though I didn‘t need it, I was cramming in the second half of my Muggle Studies book yesterday and it was a struggle lol 5y

New month, new readathons. We (myself and my two sons) all successfully finished our OWLs for #magicalreadathon2020 🦉📚⚡ Now we're getting our TBRs in order for the May readathons we're doing. This is my *almost* complete TBR for the #medievalathon 👸🤴 I'll also be reading Aurora Burning which will be released this month. This TBR also includes the books we'll be reading for the #believeathon
Are you doing any readathons this month? Which ones?

#owlsreadathon2020 Muggle Studies: a book from the perspective of a Muggle

Last minute addition to the challenge because I had a bit of time left!
I feel weird saying these words but... I would have liked more romance?
Who even am I? 😳

History of Magic OWL Exam: 4⭐️

Coco loves the beauty and whimsy of magic and wishes with all her heart to become a witch. The only issue is that “you need to be born a witch to become a witch” or at least that‘s what she‘s always been told. Living in a small village and working with her mother in their fabric shop, she meets Atelier and a world of magic might still be a possibly for her yet.

Potions OWL Exam: 3.75⭐️

This takes place in the near future of England where male immigrants are required to take a citizenship test for themselves (and their family if they have any). Because of the things that have happened, if you don‘t pass this test, you are deported from the country. It requires a physical health test and a written portion.

#owlsreadathon2020 Divination: a book picked from your TBR based on a random number

Sometimes, reviews are not helpful at all. Turns out it was the perfect book for me! I cried.

(Also, yes, it's the middle of spring, but here's an autumn aesthetic anyway)

Ancient Runes OWL Exam: 3.75⭐️

Milo has lived over 9,990 lives during his time of existence. He‘s lived in our past, present and even future so many times that he is considered the oldest soul working their way towards Perfection. The only issue is that he‘s pretty happy with spending his time in the Afterlife wit Suzie. She‘s Milo‘s girlfriend but also Death... yes, the Death.
