#25Alive!

This foodie #Friendship book has been in my TBR for ages. I remember my mom getting Amish friendship bread, the recipe & starter from a neighbor once & she went through a phase of sharing it with friends & family.💙🍞💙

AmyG I remember friendship bread! 1w
CarolynM I remember enjoying this book a lot. Hope you will too. 1w

Pickpick

Finished book 5 of #Read2025 and #JumpStart2025

This one was a soft pick for me, some interesting stories and good characters, but feel I missed some of it because I hadn‘t read the first book in the series. When I picked it up I didn‘t realise it was book 2 from a series. I will now read book 1. I can see how I would have got more out of the book if I had read book 1 first.

DieAReader Doing excellent!!! 🤓book 1 is more than a soft pick🤞🏻 2w
TierraWilliams243 I totally understand how starting with book 2 can make things a bit tricky. It's great you're planning to read book 1—it'll definitely add more depth and context to the story. As a marketer, I always suggest starting from the beginning to get the full experience!

Andrew65 @TierraWilliams243 I agree totally, and I usually do. I hadn‘t realised this was a series book until I started it and Lucy Barton came up. 2w
thecheckoutstack I read the Lucy Barton series out of order, normally I‘d say series should be read in order but with this one I really don‘t think it matters. Every book stands alone in my opinion. Lucy By the Sea is my personal favorite. 2w
Andrew65 @thecheckoutstack That is interesting to know, thanks. 😊 1w

This novel is aimed at middle grade readers, but held me captive for sure. Jake charts his challenges with anorexia and OCD in this heartbreaking, but ultimately hopeful novel in verse. Jake and his grandmother share a love of musical theatre and reading. But he struggles to connect with friends his own age and fights off a very controlling voice in his head that is causing him great suffering. This beautiful book shares Jake's journey to healing.

I never posted about this and forgot that I read it. The hopeful parts were good but the deep recollection of childhood trauma was a bit upsetting to read at times. It looks like the other books in the series are better?

This book shares the story of the Great Chicago fire. It talks about how the fire started and spread as well as the aftermath

The Great Fire | Jim Murphy

This would be a great book to talk about the Industrial Revolution. You could also use this book to talk about fire safety
