Unfinished stuff... I feel less and less focused as the days go on. Yesterday wasn't great BUT I finished a baby shower gift for my husband's friend. Trying to read this for #hatoncover for #Booked2020 and I'm just not able to clear my head enough to read about magic and potential parallel universes. 🙃🌻🤹‍♀️

This is the story of the assassination of Hydrich in Prague which I knew absolutely nothing about. The author blends this with his own feelings about writing about a factual event and whether to add fiction to it etc. Sometimes this part was overdone for me but I liked the book overall. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ #hatoncover #booked2020 #france #readingeurope2020

BarbaraBB Thursday! That is exciting! We‘re not in lockdown indeed although public life is complete down. Shops however can stay open (the big ones mostly aren‘t while small businesses are), and we can go outside to work and for pleasure just as long as we keep distanced from eachother. I am very glad I can go outside a few times a day. This strategy should create group immunity our government thinks, since people will get infected this way but mostly.... 5y

BarbaraBB ... healthy people since the elderly and vulnerable are in quarantaine. I don‘t know what to think tbh. It sounds plausible but then again why are other countries locking down? So far however out hospitals are in control. I do feel horrible about the loneliness of elder people at the moment. Many are so lonely now. Anyway, take care and keep us posted! youneverarrived @BarbaraBB it‘s a difficult one. I can see why it would work but at the same time lockdown seems sensible too. I think the main reason we‘ve chosen to go that route is in the hope the NHS doesn‘t get overwhelmed as I think it‘s struggling to cope already. That‘s great your hospitals are coping & you‘re able to still get out and about. It‘s the elderly and people on their own I feel bad for. It must be lonely for them 💔 5y

This book does not disappoint after reading The Hate You Give, last year. This YA novel follows Brianna Jackson who wants to be a rapper while she juggles her school, friendships, comparisons to her dead father who was also a reaper, and her family consisting of her mother and elder brother. The book describes racism, hypocrisy, unemployment, poverty, and incarceration. Nevertheless, the book is also extremely hopeful. #booked2020 #hatoncover

We meet julia pre ww1 as a naive teenager who lives in her imagination but with incredible self belief who, following a brief flirtation with passion, is drawn into a loveless marriage with a widowed older family friend. Immersed in julia's life the culmination is shocking, +the writer does not shy from issues of women's lives + justice.5*

andrew61 @youneverarrived it was really good but I'd maybe leave it until after the baby as parts of the later pages deal with things that would be better read then about back Street abortion and whilst it's ahead of its time in it's portrayal of women's rights and therefore an interesting social picture. Otherwise id really recommend it. 5y

This was WONDERFUL! Definitely get the audiobook- I listened to this in two sittings, the first of which lasted until 2:00am. Having been in high school in the 70‘s I spent my teenage years listening to Elton John so it was wonderful hearing some of the song origins, the other famous people of the time, and what was really going on in his life. I loved every single minute of this book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️❤️❤️
