Bailing on The Second Sex because it is outdated and also male bashing and hateful. I don‘t know what “feminism” was then but to me feminism is equality for the human race. That means men, women and other genders and sexes, all creeds and colours... not just women. Feminism is not about sexism towards men, which is 98% all this book appears to be — sexism towards men. It‘s disgusting. #booklover #feminist #butnotsexist

I‘ve put aside vol one of Anaïs Nin‘s journal and The Second Sex for a little bit whilst I read these lovelies! I want to savour the Nin so I‘m reading it very slowly, whereas I‘m hating The Second Sex and just want it to disappear. Allll of my current reads fall into my #FiercelyFemaleReads and I‘m already six chapters into WH for #classiclitlove readalong ??

Thoughts so far; why is the text so so tiny and BOLD? Let‘s make it all bold so it‘s hard to read and vaguely shouty? 🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ Why is there a chapter on D. H. Lawrence in the contents? I‘m waiting for my copy of The Second Sex by Simone de Beauvoir to arrive today for #FiercelyFemaleReads as well as my new copy of Phaedo by Plato, but whilst I wait I‘m reading my first taste of Susan Sontag. More essays! I‘m loving them!

Over halfway through Weil‘s The Iliad, or a Poem Of Force and ... wow! What an essay. It‘s interesting and profound and I have almost barrelled through in a single sitting. Has anyone else read this? I need to hear what you think.
