Pickpick

3.5⭐Light Pick
•An engagingly diabolical story where you‘re left trying to figure out who was the unreliable one. Unfortunately, I did have a few issues. 1. I‘m pretty sure the covid stuff was a turn-off for me. I lived through it, don‘t want to read about it. 2. The MC's meddling ways were overly annoying, & 3, I saw the end coming, although I didn't see that extreme, because wow, it was unhinged.
•Maggi Meg-Reed brought her A-game with this one.

#WeeklyForecast 16/25

I don‘t want to get too crazy yet about all CampLitsy nominations that are calling my name, and stick to my plan! I‘ll read the tagged one, by a favorite author, gifted to me by the wonderful @CarolynM . Where the Forest Meets the River is my #Roll100 book and Small Rain is the last one I wanted to read from the #ToB25 longlist.

But first I have to finish Moon Road that‘s not in the photo but that I am reading now.

CBee Another The Road to Dalton lover! I need to get to the second one. I likely wouldn‘t have read it were it not on my #ALSpine list 😊 2d
Lesliereadsalot Really liked Where the Forest Meets the River. Same group from the first book and still so endearing. 2d
BarbaraBB @CBee @Lesliereadsalot I liked the first one a lot! This one, that I just started, promises to be just as good. And as you say so Leslie I am sure it‘ll be! 2d

squirrelbrain I adored Small Rain. I also have Moon Road on my physical TBR shelf, so I‘ll be interested to see your review of that. 2d
CBee @BarbaraBB very glad to see that you‘re liking it so far 😊 2d
CarolynM Hope you enjoy the Tsiolkas 😘 (edited) 2d

Mehso-so

So my normal bookclub which took place yesterday had to read a Kate Atkinson. I just feel she‘s way above me. We read another book by her and I didn‘t know how to feel. A guy next to me might as well have given his doctoral thesis on it and I just sat there thinking-am I stupid? So instead of reading another Atkinson I went with this book for a mashed up horror scifi group. I didn‘t care for it or the bookclub. The grass isn‘t always greener 👇🏼

Reggie on the other side, Litsy. The book was meh. 3d
Ruthiella What Atkinson? 3d
Reggie @Ruthiella the one I read was Transcription. The one they discussed yesterday was A God in Ruins. 3d

AmyG Ah, maybe you are the smart one. 3d
MommyWantsToReadHerBook "his doctoral thesis" ???? A God in Ruins has quite a lot going on, if I remember. But talking a lot doesn't equal intelligence or understanding ? 3d
Reggie @AmyG @MommyWantsToReadHerBook @julesG There‘s this woman in the group. She‘s a 70 something brassy broad in a wheelchair and I love her. Her name‘s Dolores. When that guy was done she tells him, that‘s all and well honey but the author still has to tell a story. She hadn‘t liked it either. She made me feel better. 21h
MommyWantsToReadHerBook @Reggie that's awesome 😂😂😂😂😂 8h

BarbaraBB Hi Meg, love your choices! Hope you had a good birthday with your mom! You must have been blown away by all nominations 🥰 3d
squirrelbrain Happy Birthday to your Mom! I‘ve got Woodworking on Everand audio - might listen to it soon anyway! 3d
Megabooks @ChaoticMissAdventures @christine @thekidupstairs I think Woodworking is one I'll read regardless of whether it is chosen! I hope we get a queer book or two this year! 2d
Megabooks @Ruthiella @gatheringbooks Liquid is the only one that I've already read. It is so much deeper than the blurb makes it sound. It was not only about dating and love but also about family and regret and opportunities lost and gained. It threw me for a loop. 2d
Megabooks @BooksandCoffee4Me so glad you'll be joining us this year! Did you get her on the list @Barbarabb? I'm just now catching up after this weekend! 2d
Megabooks @squirrelbrain - let me know how the audio is! I've been trying to use my libro.fm membership more. @Barbarabb Thanks to you both for sending birthday wishes to my mom. I hope she had a great weekend and enjoyed it all. 2d
BarbaraBB I need to read Liquid no matter what! And yes I have added @BooksandCoffee4Me ❤️. Why are you tagging See What I Have Done? 2d
BkClubCare @Megabooks- yes! Why? Do tell? @BarbaraBB 2d
Megabooks @BkClubCare I meant to tag it on one particular comment and a glitch on Litsy tagged it on every comment I made this afternoon!! @BarbaraBB 2d
BarbaraBB That‘s a freaky glitch! Especially with that title 😂😉 @BkClubCare (edited) 2d
BkClubCare @Megabooks @BarbaraBB - Wowza! Conspiracy theory, anyone?! 😂 2d

This thriller has one of my favourite set ups...the locked room. There are a lot of characters and POVs and the author did a great job of differentiating most of them. I also found the story entertaining. Unfortunately, it didn‘t quite hold together as much as I would have liked. It was the reveal at the end that seemed to be lacking a little for me, although the last couple of lines were great. Thanks to Edelweiss+ for the digital ARC. 3.5/5

Pickpick

A sweet book about grief and family members moving through tragedy in their own ways and dealing with their different feelings of guilt. The multiple points of view made it harder for me to get into the story and at times it felt too sterile, but overall a light pick.

BarbaraBB I had it stacked but will unstack it now. I have so many books to read! 7d
sarahbarnes @BarbaraBB others seem to like it more so maybe it‘s just me. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 6d
Reggie Oof it brought out the “sterile.” lol I totally get that. 4d
